Obligation Not Charity.
Obligation Not Charity.
Obligation Not Charity.

On Friday, 6 March, the talented musicians next to me and I had the privilege of performing for @liveueaid, a concert in solidarity with Palestine, Sudan and Ukraine.

To those of you who came, thank you for your support. Your energy humbles us. Continue to speak up. Continue to ask questions. Continue to do more with the art. To push it into spaces it has not yet visted. Continue to dismantle and reconstruct yourself and the ways you are perceived. Continue to fight back. Continue to kick down the doors of the oppressors. Continue.

If you were unable to come to the show, please take the time to donate to the causes we raised money for:

@childrennotnumbers
@mutual.aid.sudan
@misto.dobra

This event was bigger than awareness.
It was about accountability.
If awareness has increased, but violence continues, then awareness is not enough.

Do not wait for a saviour. Do not wait for a leader of liberation. You are the leaders. We are the leaders.

They are proactive in their tyranny.
Let us be proactive in our future.

Our inaction is collaboration.
Our passive nonviolence is serving the oppressor.

We cannot build collective power without internal liberation. Please remind yourself of your beauty, grace, power, and intelligence when you look in the mirror: today and every day.

This concert was not about generosity; it was an obligation. The struggle is ongoing. Freedom is a forever fight. And we are a collective in this fight. A collective with generational responsibility. It is our children’s future as much as it is ours. Stay focused on our goals of freedom at home and abroad.

Never let go of your energy.
You are too youthful to give in.
You are too privileged to give up.

“It is in collectives that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism” — Angela Y. Davis

Thank you to @archie_ormrod and all of the @liveueaid team.
