So it's the end of the year and it turns out I barely took any pictures and most of this is environmental shots. The year started ok but it took a really bad turn around the middle. Now It's getting better at least so here's to hoping next year goes better for everyone! #2024 by @donsizzleclaus

So, I haven't posted anything in a while due to unfortunate events. Back in July I was feeling immensely sad and still haven't gotten over my dog so we took a trip to Tofino and we both felt a bit better. There is so much water by @donsizzleclaus

I've been trying to find the right words to say for 2 weeks but every time I go about doing it, I can never find the right thing to say. It still doesn't feel right. Maybe it never will. She was only 2 and a half years old. We were supposed to spend at least 10 more years together, but it seems some higher power had other plans. Sometimes it seems everything could go right only for one accident to change it all.

On June 16th, Sif was hit by a car. We had let her out into the front yard to use the bathroom. It was supposed be normal procedure. We didn't realize the latched gate was open. We didn't see the dog across the street. We didn't realize there was a car. I was upstairs when it happened. I never got to see her one last time. The only solace I can somewhat put for this is that the vet said she was gone rather quickly. We were suppose to go to a haircut appointment later that day.

These past 2 weeks felt like I was living in a simulation. I've buried myself in things, be it work related stuff or going to the gym. I suppose I should be thankful that the Elden Ring DLC came out a week later because this would've been so much hard to deal with. The pain would be buried momentarily, only to be cruelly reminding me that things would never be the same again. No more evening walks, no more snuggles on the couch. I would come down the stairs every morning or return home expecting to see her excited greetings as usual only to remember what had happened. My mom's grief perhaps is even worse than mine; she actually saw it happen.

We are getting through it one day at a time. Readjusting my life had been strange. I never realized how much of my daily schedule was around a dog, and now i suddenly have more time than I know what to do with it. Our time together may have been far too short, but these 2 and a half years have been possibly the happiest I've been in a long time.

Goodbye my sweet little girl. Perhaps the hardest part of all this is realizing I have to wait another 50 years to see you again.
