I wrote this german text, these three poems « Unschuld », « Die Helfer*innen », «Schwarz » put together to « Menschenroboter » because writing said more than saying words. Talking felt like nothing and writing meant everything.

This work is contributed to everyone who has had to experience sexual assault and abuse. These words might seem like nothing as they are being used to often and might have lost their meaning of strength. And still it is important to remind yourselve again and again:

What happened to you, is not on you.
This is and was never your fault.
You survived. You are not alone.

Till now 3 of 4 womxn have experienced sexual assault (Study Austrian Institut 2011) and more often it was someone nearest to them.
Not even a week ago at a court hearing in Basel about a woman being assaulted the judge told the woman that « she played with fire » and gave the defendant less time to serve. 1 1/4 years instead of 3 years. This issue led to protests last Sunday in Basel City.

The issue of sexual assault and abuse doesn’t only happens to womxn, it can happen to anybody. But womxn are more likely to be assaulted.
The law in how we treat survivors is still lacking and with this poem I hope to highlight this issue. There has to be change coz without it lives are being lost.

Will follow up soon on how we can support the change.

when they turned
Sixteen
It was to late
Seven
To early
Six
to soon

Stained
Left memories
looming
breaking through the depths
of concrete ground
wrinkled like
old shredded skin
coming off
no space
for soft spots

drowning alone
seemed better than
learning how to swim

Behind closed doors
was the loudest noise
only they
could hear
it
Feel it
Touch it
Smell it

No-one knew
And No-one heard

No-one wanted to know
No-one wanted to hear
when they was drowning alone

Became visible
when their body emerged
demanding
for silence

Wrote some little pieces for this piece:

~ BREATHE- A reminder to heal is a performance work dedicated to black bodies gone and wrecked.
To us BIPOCS who are still alive and overcoming our fears, using our power to say NO and taking our time to heal.
BREATHE is unfinished and yet finished. It is a process that could go on and on and stop at any time. BREATHE is inspired by loved ones and experience made out in thus world. ~

Throwback 2015:

La liberté est comme un coup de vent. Inattendu, bien et rafraîchissant.
Comme la chaleur qui parti du soleil. Inattaquable et néanmoins on le leve.

Une vie libre c'est le droit de tout personne.

Die Freiheit ist wie ein Windstoß. Überraschend, gut und erfrischend.
Wie die Wärme, die von der Sonne ausgeht.

the bell rings
eyes wide open
