A Day of remembrance, commemoration and celebration especially for the Sranan & Caribbean people in Netherlands. @the_blackarchives play a big role preserving the memories of those history and sharing and educating the public on it. They have a library where you can get books and connect to afrodiasporic history that shapes us today. After 4,5 years of studying in an white institution, this felt like sanctuary I was longing for. I cried stepping in those rooms of tangible memory of Surinamese blackity black history. @barrist and I kept exchanging about our different experiences of being in, visiting Europe and people we both knew of. He reminded of the people and places I come from how Sierra Leoneans and Gambians are kind and generous. I shared how even in spaces of blackness, anti-blackness and misogynoir still holds some of us in shackles and breaks trust when emotional & financial capacity and whiteness leaves the room. Shows itself in small micro aggressions when honesty is not easy to bear. How do we collectively move and engage in mending those wounds? And what happens when there is nothing left to mend? I got reminded of how much we have survived and how lively we are amidst everything else. The book The Black Joy Project appeared from the shelves. ✨ by @belfro_

I didn’t plan this. Met @barrist in Amsterdam at Keti Koti, the Emancipation Day of enslaved African people. A Day of remembrance, commemoration and celebration especially for the Sranan & Caribbean people in Netherlands. It was my first time in this city and meeting @barrist it felt like we known each other since ages. He brought out my goofy self in a spontaneous foto shoot. It was so fun that a stranger fotobumped us. I can’t never act “normal”. The last few months have been very challenging and tough, I just graduated and been moving from one traumatic situation into another. I am still recovering from 4,5 years of academic trauma connected to racism, ableism, classism and misogynoir experiences I had to encounter. Therefore I cherish this moment dearly. On this day on the subway we also bumped into an old school friend @barrist hadn’t seen since I guess secondary school in Ghana what are the odds? And Senegal lost to Belgium. I also bumped into Anderson Paak, @diasporadash (check out her work) and people from #metro54 Thank you @koko.yebo for connecting us 💕Thank you to my friends who made it possible for me to travel. ✨💕 Thank you @lesmigras for the beautiful bag that went everywhere with me this summer. ✨Thx @melanie_bonajo for the 👖, been getting so many compliments for it 🤣💕 by @belfro_

I was listening to @kelechnekoff talking about racism in the publishing industry. In that she spoke about the infantilization of marginalized folx. This made me think about that topic more and how we do that in our Black and queer community and don’t hold eachother accountable. I am very interested in having more convos about this. Because I do find myself in situations having to deal with the negligence and void that creates and the impact that has on my body. This phenomenon is not only in the Black community, we see it with discussions happening on television concerning abuse of power connected to other intersections like patriarchy, disability, etc. But focusing on Blackness for now. What do we think? Where do we see those dynamics? How do we tackle those moments? For context and clarity: The first video from Kelechi doesn’t belong to me, I didn’t ask for permission to use the video. I am using it as a reference point for a question her insight made me pose. Go watch Kelechi’s full video to understand what I am referring to. by @belfro_

(It might then be assumed that the problem would go away if you would just stop talking about it or if you went away. The charge of sensationalism falls rather quickly onto feminist shoulders: when she talks about sexism and racism, her story is heard as sensationalist, as if she is exaggerating for effect. The feminist killjoy begins as a sensationalist figure. It is as if the point of making her point is to cause trouble, to get in the way of the happiness of others, because of her own unhappiness“ ~ Sara Ahmed 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨📸 @expennydita by @belfro_

GROWING 🪴28 was all about hard truths, letting go of abusive and manipulative places and people, leaning more into community, alignment and love, learning more about succulents and waters, remembering passed teaching of my mother and my little self, owning the power of our sister killjoy, witnessing immense pain and holding transformations of others and myself, practicing gratitude, closing chapters (university, premiers, etc.), standing on business and being seen as more “professional”, strengthening relationships, rekindling with joy & people from my childhood and adolescence. 29 I am so happy to delicately hold you and pour more love into you. To show you out. How beautiful you are. I am the succulent and luscious mirror of the survival of darkskinned african women who came before me. I am their wildest dreams. How exquisite and rich. I have so much love for us. ✨ by @belfro_

Meet the DJs of @kissmyassclub 🎛️💦Samedi 18 avril 21h30@tu_theatredelusine Dans le cadre du @dyke_0_rama DJs🎠 E-F-U-A Born On A Friday @belfro_ ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥Deborah, a hyphenate being, a hybrid-artist, is all over and nowhere to be found. She deemsherself to be a hot mess and so is her sound. Hot and messy, calling you out to move. E-F-U-A feels grounded with Afrobeat and Bashment. She is a sharer of sonic experience that isn’t hold to specific genres.🎠 Infinite Trash Situation aka Leslie Fineberg @postmoderntranny with Culture Twink @culturedtwink ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥Infinite Trash Situation loves the interaction with the dancers in real time, the observation of their movements and the intuitive selection of tracks that absorb the flow of the performance and carry it on. Kiss My Ass for them is an opportunity to play a particularly wide range of music - mixing str*p bangers with sounds one hardly connect to the classic club vibe. There is never a fixed set in the str*p club - that would be impossible. Everything arises from the mood of the moment. by @belfro_
