Sometimes we get used to the gifts people have because they’re in close proximity. Let this be your reminder to not only show up for your people, but never let them forget that what God has deposited in them isn’t normal.

What an honor it was for my brother @donzpressplay and I to witness @officiallyjaala perform the national anthem in front of almost 40,000 people. This is a memory that will stick with us forever, one that we’ll all look back on.

Someone asked me, “What was your ‘I need to get closer to God’ moment?”

Honestly, I don’t think I understood how much I needed God until life started taking away the things I thought I needed. The things I had allowed to define me.

That season changed me.

Not because I suddenly had all the answers, but because I finally had to ask myself some deeper questions about what I was living for, where I was finding my identity, and who I was really trusting.

God, I’m so grateful. 🙏🏾

One of the questions we don’t talk about enough as we grow deeper in our faith:

How do you actually know when God is speaking?

We hear a lot about “hearing from God,” but not nearly enough about what that looks like practically.

I’m not going to act like I have all the answers. I’m still learning too. But there are some things I’ve learned along the way that have helped me discern His voice from my own.

There’s a reason I walk around joyful.

God brought me out of a place I didn’t think I’d make it out of, and I’ll never stop being grateful for that.

I received so many messages after sharing my story from people who said it blessed them. It also opened up some really honest conversations with people who have walked through dark seasons of their own.

That’s why I tell my story.

Not because I have everything figured out, but because I know what it feels like to need hope. And if sharing what God has done in my life can help someone else hold on a little longer, I’ll keep telling it.

What if the storm you’re asking God to remove is the very thing He’s using to teach you how to soar?

Isaiah says those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up on wings like eagles.

Eagles don’t run from the storm. They use the wind from the storm to rise above it.

Maybe the waiting isn’t wasted.

Maybe the storm isn’t stopping you.

Maybe God is teaching you how to soar.

Pull Up a Chair. 🍳

I’ve been thinking about this one.

We often hear, “God is not the author of confusion.” I believe that’s true.

But I don’t think confusion automatically means something isn’t from God. Sometimes, we’re the ones who complicate what He intended to be simple.

The water wasn’t the problem.

The water inside the boat was.

Sometimes the things weighing us down are the things we’ve gotten so used to carrying, so used to calling normal, that we become oblivious to the fact that they’re slowing us down.

Something can be present, familiar, and even expected, and still be working against you.

Sometimes you have to “empty the boat” and “cast aside every weight.”

With this being my birthday month and Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I felt like it was finally time to share a part of my testimony.

I’ve often been known as the “strong” friend or family member. The encourager. The person people come to for advice or support.

But there was a season when I wasn’t okay.

And the truth is, I didn’t tell anyone.

My hope is that this story gives someone the courage to acknowledge when they’re struggling and reminds them that they don’t have to carry it alone.

Healing isn’t linear, but there is joy on the other side.
