I got to vote on who should be nominated for the Juno rap categories this year. It was an honour and I was happy to make my picks, whether they ended up winning or not.

There was a lot to cover here, feel free to ask me questions if something was unclear.

Trying to find the best Hip Hop in Canada? I have been. The Junos announced 5 nominees - I picked 55 other albums that could be someone's #AOTY. It's all subjective, but the point is that there was a lot of good rap made in this country last year.

Most weeks I go live on Fridays and game (or just chill) while I listen to all the new releases across Canada. Snap judgements are made, and I buy what I like most to play later on #ATSIC.

This one was from last week. Come through and say hi on the next one. by @doobyis_

I asked @itsrunxgun about what upcoming goals still seem sort of daunting after hearing a line on their new project Contra III.

I agree with @itsTouch182 on this one. To me, rapping for other rappers feels like the purest form. The cipher is virtual now, with everyone contributing to the conversation verse by verse - and emcees could benefit for paying some attention to other emcees even if they aren't standing in the same circle. To master a craft and then cater your output to people who know nothing about that craft, it's intricacies and traditions? Seems sad, doesn't it?

AI might have some uses, but music creation isn't one of them. Unless you're a celebrated emcee who lost their voice.

@FreshKilz thinks @MyerClarity is part of a "generation" of talented artists who might have been overlooked - after the boom, but before the internet was what it is now. Maybe the artists who were coming of age when the digital lanes were less developed lost out on some opportunities early on?
