Some extra pictures from our trip. The Museum for Puppet Arts was right next to the venue where ProgPower was being held, so we went over to check it out. It was really cool seeing the Jim Henson exhibit & other historic puppets from around the world. There was also a small stop motion exhibit on display that had some cool screen models. by @doomkritter

Some more pics & clips from our trip to ProgPower. They hold meet & greets with all of the bands there, so I got to meet Voyager & get a few albums signed. They moved the lines through pretty quick, so I only managed to snag pics with Danny Estrin & Simone Dow. We met The Gathering too & I had Anneke van Giersbergen sign some of my Devin Townsend albums she provided guest vocals on. I got a few clips from The Gathering's set too.

We drove 8 hours to watch @voyagerau headline a sold out @progpowerusa

Absolutely worth it. I came onto them later than a lot of the regular festival goers did. I had kind of fallen out of staying on top of a lot of current metal & started getting back into it during the pandemic. I'd liked a few random songs by them, but it wasn't until I saw them competing on Eurovision that I fell head over heels for them. I'd honestly never even paid attention to Eurovision much before that. The amount of hype & love that the prog metal community put behind Voyager during that year made me feel just as excited to see them make the finals.

But then as anyone who's been following the band knows, right as they reached the height of their global success, things took a devastating turn after Danny was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

He spoke about it quite a bit during the set. He's still in chemo, but he's improved enough to be able to sing & play a lot of his keyboard parts again. He's still living life based off appointments though. It was an extremely emotional set. They revisited each album & had childhood photos. There were stories & jokes & costume changes. There was a tribute to Peter Steele that sent me over the edge into full-on ugly crying (I was already crying from Danny talking about his cancer & it just became overwhelming).

I don't know how any show will ever top this one & I'm so thankful to have been able to see it.

Just a few extra clips from Melvins & Tomahawk. I didn't record much. I was too busy enjoying the show (and trying to avoid getting hit by the drunk guy flailing around in the seat in front of me. Dude looked exactly like Matthew McConaughey in True Detective. I didn't want to tell him to chill some because he legit creeped me tf out).

Our next show is going to be ProgPower. We only got tickets for days 3 & 4 of the festival though. (Tickets were expensive!) The venue is right next to the Center for Puppetry Arts though, so not only will I get to knock more bands off my concert bucket list, but I'll get to knock a museum off the list too. Been dreaming about seeing that Jim Henson exhibit for years. And I think they started getting in pieces from Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Gonna be a fun weekend! 🔥 by @doomkritter

I've seen the Melvins before, but watching King Buzzo's magnificent hair blowing around while he belts out "Honey Bucket" never gets old. In fact, it only gets better as his mumus evolve. 😌 by @doomkritter

We ventured to downtown Cleveland on a Saturday night to see Tomahawk & the Melvins, which was completely sold out & happening at the exact same time as a Guardians game. It was a nightmare. The line wasn't even fully inside when the Melvins were supposed to be starting. Also, there were way too many dudes in polos & button-down shirts at this show. And a lot of them were shit-faced, spilling drinks everywhere & bumping into everyone. Mind you, the venue was fully seated. Definitely one of the worst crowds I've ever been in.

But at least I got to see a bucket list show & Mike Patton brought out some of his classic recording tricks. At one point he was playing an Aztec death whistle. I'd like to see how many performers carry one of those around. 😆 by @doomkritter

I'm doing the whimsical fun house thing for my mid-life crisis.

Here's what I've been up to over the past month...

I finally painted the top of the stairs.

And then I started on the laundry room. I've been putting it off because it's intimidating. It's a partially finished room, yet for some reason a previous owner decided to install a really nice walk-in shower in it (no toilet though, that's in a separate half-bathroom). I personally had zero desire to ever shower in there, so I'm trying to make it into a space where I would.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the floor, but I ended up finding some nice waterproof vinyl flooring on sale at Menards. I only installed it on the shower side since the other side is where the main drainage for the house is. Figured it's best to leave that uncovered. I'm going to clean the walls really good & finish/repaint what I can. The biggest pains are going to be fixing some of the plumbing & installing a drop ceiling. Even in the basement, it's too hot to be messing around with a ceiling right now 😪

For now I still have to finish the trim. And figure out what I'm doing with the space under the stairs. I might leave it as is. I might put a door there to create a barrier from the humidity though. Plus it will seal in the creepy clown monsters living under there. 🤡👹👻 by @doomkritter

Presenting "FRESHLY SQUEEZED" ORANGE LABUBU

The Labubu trend might be on its way out, but that just means I can buy them up on a discount & make them into @aew wrestlers. 😂

We're going to the Dynamite taping in Cincy & I decided that I needed to bring a Labubu with me. And who better than our favorite wrestler, @orangecassidy ! 🥰

I used denim printed cotton to make his pants & jacket. The shirt is a made from a sleeve I cut off a t-shirt. I reworked his one line doodle to be Labubu shaped & drew it on with a fabric marker. His shoes are made of foamies sheets with embroidery floss for the laces. He's got his drawstring pants complete with pockets. I bought doll glasses but ended up reworking them to be the right shape. It took a few nights. Would've taken less time, but I kept scrapping pieces to make them look better. The curse of perfectionism. 😮‍💨 by @doomkritter

Second half of my media dump from AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster in Cincy 🔥

Both Matt & I love Orange Cassidy. And Andrade is pure eye candy for everyone (he is a real Latino man, after all), so seeing this historic strip-off between these two men was 🤌😆

And then Lio Rush popped out right under us wanting selfies 🤣 His Blackheart character is so great.

After that we got Skye Blue vs Maya World.

Then we got the main event of Swerve vs Brody, which popped tf off. The "fuck ICE" chants from the crowd happened at least 4 or 5 times throughout the night, but were obviously the loudest when Brody came out. Some MAGA chud in the section next to us got pissed & tried mouthing off to some of the people around him & it was met with angry men getting up & screaming in his face that his n*zi shit has no place in AEW. They had 3 security staff have to get involved. It was wild. Half of the row ended up leaving. Despite all of that, the little kid in front of us was having the time of his life. His mom bought him a little Swerve shirt & he was singing & dancing when Swerve came out. Just adorable & a good job to that kid's mom.

After the AEW main event, they switched back over to Ring of Honor filming & we got to see Dunkzilla vs Ace Austin (that dude never skips leg day. We call him Ace "Plumpers" 😆)

Then we got some Lethal Twist action, with Lee Johnson vs Takeshita which was awesome to see.

Then wer got a great women's tag match with Mina Shirakawa & Harley Cameron vs Vita Van & Lacey Lane.

And it all wrapped up with a fun 8 man tag match between the rest of Lethal Twist & RPG Vice vs The Outrunners, Mistico, & my non-binary icon, Speedball Mike Bailey, who performed a beautiful lipsync before & after the match.

Overall an amazing experience. 10/10. Would've gone back for Collison, but my social battery drains really hard these days & I'll need maybe a week to recover 😅

Media dump from the June 10th AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster event in Cincy 🔥

We had a couple ROH matches at the beginning. I was excited to see Athena fight Syuri.

We didn't expect Jericho to show up, so that was awesome.

We got a Cleveland vs Cincy match with the big ol badass mf Shane Taylor vs Mox.

We got a Darby appearance!

We got to watch them do their "fan of the week" bit, which was awesome. They found a little girl with a sign she made that said "AEW girls rule!" & brought her up to show it off & everyone cheered for her & chanted her name. It was adorable. There weren't a ton of kids, but the ones there seemed like they were having so much fun. ❤️

We got Mark Briscoe vs the Bastard Pac. And then Briscoe challenged MJF, who blue balled us for at least 5 minutes before he finally came out. Tony Khan came out & asked Briscoe to wait for MJF to get out of makeup first. Then Briscoe tried some stand-up comedy while he waited. They cut it from the broadcast for the commercial break, but I got most of it. 😂

Then The Conglomeration showed up to help out & confirmed a cage match for Forbidden Door 🔥

The rest of the clips will be in my next post, because you know I got lots of clips from Orange Cassidy vs Andrade! 😆🥰
