Im devastated to say we have lost our lovely boy Dave. I woke up to find he had passed away over night in his bed. I can't really process it yet, I knew he was deteriorating, but I thought he had weeks at the very least. Maybe months. Yesterday, he was as he always is, wanting to be wherever people are. He even ate extra dinner yesterday!... there was nothing to hint he was about to go. I just can't believe he's gone. I'm getting teary writing this.

He was the best boy you could possibly ask for. He was so friendly, with adults, children, other dogs and animals. I had never had a dog before and part of the reason for getting him was as support for me with my depression. A bad day and Daves face on your lap could lift anyone's spirits. I can't count the amount of times he made me smile when things were their darkest.

He loved people. And people absolutely loved him. He used to get loads of attention when we were out and even more once he lost his leg. Losing the leg didn't phase him, he could even get upstairs using his chin to sit with me while I worked.

He hated storms, he was scared of the dark and for a while he was scared of turning right out of our house. He LOVED pubs, chips, his ball and the beach. He hated baths! He also loved running out of the front of the house and having people try to catch him... the bugger! 😆

Ive put some pictures and videos here from different moments in his life. Just ones I could find easily.

We are heartbroken.

'Tales of the Occult' is now open for submissions and closes midnight Friday 14th August. For full guidelines, please follow the link in my bio.

Heres a word on what I'm looking for in short story anthology number 4:

“Hi everyone, thank you for the huge interest and support for the first three entries in my ‘Tales of…’ series with Red Cape Publishing. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your submissions so far, the quality of writing has been outstanding and it’s proving to be a real pleasure curating this series. As we are now over the half way point in this series of books, I think it’s time to select one of my personal favourite genres for book number four. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the next title in the series is ‘Tales of the Occult.’ I’m going to be quite liberal with the requirements for this one, as the occult is such a huge umbrella term for lots of different avenues in fiction. So I want to see your stories of witches and covens, secret societies, satanic rites, ceremonial magick and religious horror. Feel free to push the boundaries of what occultism could be here, or stick to the tried and tested formulas. I want to read it all! If in doubt send it in, alternatively if you have any questions, you can email me through Red Cape’s submissions email. Happy writing and thank you as always for your support – Chris.”

Publication day!
Excited to announce that my 3rd curated anthology in the 'Tales of...' series is released today!

'Tales of Cosmic Horror' is an anthology of 10 British Tales of Lovecraftian terrors from new and established writers. Expect, warping geometry, unspeakable horrors and of course lots of tentacles!

Starting to make plans for my playwriting goals for this year. I have another 1 act horror play I want to produce and also a full length id like to get made. But im tempted to bring The Séance back for a run... what do you think? 🖤👻

A very happy birthday to the brilliant
@ink.festival which turns 10 this year!

Ink Festival is all about championing and supporting new writing in East Anglia, and I will be forever grateful that in 2023, they selected and produced my first ever play 'Clarissa' for a 3 day festival run. I had never had a play performed before this and without them, I would not have had the confidence to go forward with my play writing.

On the back of this, I had a section of my play 'The Frightmare' performed at a scratch night at the @weareoldred @orltheatre and then from seeing that, in 2024 the brilliant @ninaatesh invited me to be part of the anthology group 'Tales From The Hellfire Club' produced for @grimfestuk 2023 (thank you to @newms1987 for finding me the scratch night opportunity!)

After this I wrote and directed 'The Séance' which had a premier in October 2024 to great reviews and a sold out run in January 2025. In September 2025, I was very fortunate to have a section of my first full length play 'The Trial of Matthew Hopkins' performed at @queenstheatrehornchurch and directed by the incredible @scottlecrass
This year I will complete my full length play and also produce and direct my next 1 act play 'Do You Believe In Ghosts?'

All of this has happened because of people taking chances on me, networking, people supporting each other, going for opportunities and creating my own opportunities and it started with that first performance, so thank you @ink.festival !

Also special mention to another organisation championing writers, @_hightidetheatre_ with who I completed a fantastic playwriting course over the pandemic with @dawnkingwrites and on which I met @emilycordell_ who I know will be a long term collaborator!

Finally a mention for another champion of nurturing talent @annajordanwap who does so much for writers and @de_mys_tify who help to break barriers for working class writers and who I hope to work with one day.

So meet people, support each other, go for those opportunities and if the opportunities don't exist, make them yourself... you never know where it will lead! Don't let anything stop you.

Do you like plays about witchraft?...

Im thrilled to say, I had a rehearsed reading of an excerpt of my play 'The Trial of Matthew Hopkins' at @queenstheatrehornchurch at the end of September.

I didn't get to post about it at the time, as I was taking a break from social media, but I was absolutely over moon with what the team did.

Directed by the wonderful @scottlecrass and performed by @hannahwright , Henry Alexander Bryan and Joe Judd who are all talented actors to watch and just graduated from drama school.

Rehearsed readings are brilliant to develop ideas and see your work performed. Nothing beats having your work performed and directed to see what works, what doesnt and to move forward. I was also invited to rehearsals where the team listened to my thoughts and ideas, but to be honest, I was so happy with the direction they were taking, that I had very little to add.

I'm now developing the full length version of the play, with a view to produce in 2026.

My thanks to Scott, the cast and all who came to watch 🖤
