POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When Lazerbeak and I first talked about making something for What A Ripper, we were thinking maybe a visualizer that could match his live shows.

I came back with an idea that borrowed from my hidden-camera work. Make a visualizer/music video by finding little unstaged stories and use them to visually play with the beats and moments in his song.

He said, “let’s do it.”

Then we had to figure out how the hell to actually make it.

Here’s a little bit of that story.

The What A Ripper video started with a pretty unusual idea: set up high above the Mississippi, point a camera at everyday life happening hundreds of yards away, and let real moments become the music video.

Pulling that off took a crew willing to embrace the weirdness, watching beaches all day, chasing down releases, wrangling dogs, building a reveal and adapting to whatever the river gave us that day.

A lot had to go right. A lot changed on the fly. And somehow it came together remarkably close to the original idea.

So much love to everyone who helped make this strange little music video happen.
