Is SaaS becoming harder to justify in the age of AI?

That’s the question behind this conversation with Shensi Ding and Gil Feig, co-founders of Merge.

The cost of building software in-house is dropping.

AI can now write code, ask clarifying questions, build systems, and automate workflows with a level of speed that completely changes the equation.

And at the same time, consumer expectations are moving in the opposite direction.

People expect more automation.
More speed.
Less friction.

So if a SaaS platform can’t keep up with what AI can build or automate, what exactly are customers paying for?

That’s what makes conversations like this so valuable for founders and operators.

But turning a dense technical conversation into a short-form clip is a different challenge.

The edit needs to make the viewer understand the shift without slowing down the conversation.

Clear visual hierarchy.
Purposeful pacing.
UI and product-driven visuals.
Motion that reinforces the idea.
And emphasis exactly where the argument changes.

Because the best podcast edits don’t just make complex conversations look interesting.

They make complex ideas easy to understand.

That’s the standard I aim for when editing founder and tech podcasts.

“Toned” isn’t actually a thing.

And that’s exactly why this conversation between Gemma and Kate Morris works so well as a short-form clip.

Instead of chasing a vague fitness goal, they break down what people are actually trying to achieve: body recomposition building muscle while losing fat.

The mistake is thinking more cardio + aggressively cutting calories = better results.

The better conversation is around training hard, eating enough protein, and giving your body enough time to change.

For a topic like this, the edit has one job:

Make the information easy to follow without making it feel like a lecture.

Strong opening.
Clean pacing.
Visual emphasis on the important points.
Purposeful motion.
And enough variation to keep attention through the entire explanation.

Because fitness podcasts are full of valuable information.

The challenge is turning that information into short-form content people actually want to finish watching.

That’s where good editing makes the difference.
