SOMEBODY CALL ON DI JAB!!! ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ”ฅ The Black Travel Summit proudly congratulates @dopfletch winner of the 2026 @blacktravelfilmfestival Scripted Film Award for his brilliant film, @callofthejab This powerful cultural film follows a Caribbean father and son as they return to @puregrenada to reclaim their ancestral stories. Through folklore, mythology, and breathtaking underwater visuals, the film celebrates the preservation of Black heritage while reframing the often-feared Jab Jab as a powerful symbol of resistance, resilience, and cultural identity. And family, Grenada didnโ€™t take home one award, but TWO ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ This is why Black storytelling matters. Our traditions, our histories, and our cultural expressions deserve to be documented, celebrated, and shared with the world! Story time ๐Ÿ“– From Hiawassee Christian Academy, to Lake Whitney Elementary, to repeating third grade at Orlando Christian School because I was held back. Then getting kicked out of Gotha Middle School in sixth grade, transferring to Robinswood Middle School because my mom worked there, and eventually, after a couple suspensions, graduating from Olympia High School. My educational journey wasnโ€™t exactly a straight line. I was told I had too much imagination and way too much energy, which often made me seem like a difficult student. I also had a habit of challenging the powers that be, but thatโ€™s a story for another time. But looking back, I realize that the same imagination and energy that made me a challenging student would eventually become some of my greatest creative strengths. As a West Orlando native and Full Sail University alumnus, this homecoming is especially meaningful. I never imagined that one day Iโ€™d return to my hometown as a filmmaker, bringing a film I created to the big screen. Imagine if I could have told third-grade Fletch and my parents what was coming. See you at the Orlando Film Festival, November 20 & 22! by @dopfletch
When we started this journey, the goal was never about the awards. It was about telling a story that mattered. Thatโ€™s why every recognition we receive means so much to us. A heartfelt thank you to Black Travel Summit for recognizing Call of the Jab for Scripted Film of the Year and providing a platform for our story to be seen and celebrated. And a MAJOR shoutout to our family at @puregrenada for taking home Brand of the Year! Grenada to d world! ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฉ by @dopfletch
