Doromb 500 - 500 Days of Jaw Harp #doromb #doromb500

Tomorrow it will be exactly 500 days, and I will turn fifty.
How do I want to mark time?
I wanted to give the days a sound.
My whole life has been tightly bonding with the jaw harp.

So tomorrow I'll start the project Doromb500 – 500 Days of Jaw Harp.
For the next 500 days, I will share one short jaw harp performance every single day, leading up to my fiftieth birthday.

Each day I play a different song on a jaw harp handmade by me.
Different tunings. Different characters.
I explicitly invite others to remix, reinterpret, and build upon the material. Producers, experimental musicians, beatmakers, overtone singers — anyone drawn to this sound is welcome to engage with it. If something grows out of these daily pieces, I want to hear it. I want to share it. I want the vibration to travel a bit further than my own hands and mouth.

At the end of the 500 days, I will release an album built from the strongest pieces and from the collaborations that grow out of this journey.

There is also something deeply physical about marking time through vibration. The jaw harp is played against the body. It uses the mouth cavity as a resonating chamber. Every sound is filtered through bone and breath. In that sense, Doromb500 is not just about producing audio; it is about listening to the body as it changes over time.
Five hundred days. Five hundred short performances. One continuous thread of resonance stretching toward a birthday that is less about age and more about presence.
Time will pass whether I mark it or not.
I choose to mark it with sound.
And when the 500th day arrives, I hope what remains is not just an archive of videos, but a living network of shared vibration — a reminder that even the simplest instrument, played with consistency and intention, can become a measure of time itself. If the only benefit will be some moments of smile in your day, I'm already happy.
