If you’re new here, welcome to Do Something Co.

We’re on a mission to help people connect through creativity. Whether it’s a floral design workshop, a charm bar, a patch bar, a creative crawl, or another hands-on experience, our goal is always the same: create opportunities for people to step out of their every day routine, try something new, laugh together, make something with their hands, and leave feeling a little more connected than when they arrived.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll probably notice more videos like this. I’ve realized that while I spend every day doing these events, there are still so many people who have no idea what we actually do. So consider this your behind-the-scenes look at the experiences we create for businesses, organizations, and private groups across Michigan.

This started as something small. Just a way to keep doing creative things during a weird time in the world.

I didn’t have a big plan. Just a feeling that if I needed it, maybe others did too.

Over time, it’s grown into something I’m really proud of, not just because of what we create, but because of what happens in the room. People connect. They relax. They try something new. They leave feeling different.

One of my favorite things about this business is how much it’s evolved. And how I have too. I can have goals and ideas and a vision… and it still takes me places I never expected.

Right now feels like we’re building something really special. There’s momentum. There are connections forming. There’s so much possibility. I’m really excited for what’s ahead.

This is your sign to plan a night out in Ada. And no, this is not paid or sponsored! I just love @theadahotel that much!

Living in Kalamazoo, when I think about getting out of town for a special dinner, girls’ night, date night or quick overnight, my brain usually goes straight to Grand Rapids. And while I LOVE Grand Rapids, I will now be telling everyone I know: don’t sleep on Ada.

The Ada Hotel is a one-stop shop for a really good night away. It’s beautiful, cozy and feels special without requiring a big trip. You’ve got restaurants and bars right inside the hotel, plus Ada Village is completely walkable with coffee, shopping and even more places to eat and drink.

I’ve also gotten to experience the hotel from the event side, and the hospitality, communication and attention to detail have been incredible every single time. Every person I’ve brought here has had the same reaction: “Wait, this place is SO nice.”

Also worth noting: an incredible mocktail list and NA champagne!

I’m already plotting both a girls’ overnight AND a night away here with my husband.

So if you’re in West Michigan and want something that feels like a getaway without actually going very far, put Ada on your list. And yes, stay overnight so you can wake up and walk to coffee the next morning. That’s part of the experience.

Fall is here, and we’re kicking it off with a little bit of everything!

Over the next couple of weeks you can find Do Something Co. popping up all over Southwest Michigan with DIY patch bars, cowboy hats, pumpkin succulents, and more!

We’ll be at the Sunday Collective Market at @mamajoscollectivedepot in Vicksburg tomorrow from 12–3 PM with our Charm Bar!

Come grab a cup of coffee, make a custom charm item with us, and shop a whole lineup of local vendors, including permanent jewelry, apparel, books, handmade jewelry, sourdough goodies, scones, home goods + more.

Unfortunately the work you’re doing today doesn’t always pay off today.

You make the connection. You tell people what you do. You stay visible. You build the relationship. And months (or even a year!) later, when the right opportunity comes up, they think of you.

Not every conversation turns into a sale. Not every introduction leads to a booking. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t working.

A little reminder for my fellow small business owners to keep planting the seeds. It’s the only way to grow!

It’s official!! Our second annual Do Something Co. Christmas Co-op is happening on Small Business Saturday at Wind + James!

We’re bringing together some of our favorite things for one festive day: local vendors, holiday shopping, food + drinks, Christmas music, creative activities, and lots of ways to support small businesses all in one stop.

We’ll have our Do Something Co. Charm Bar + Patch Bar set up, plus ticketed holiday centerpiece workshops happening throughout the day. The vendor market itself is FREE to attend, so come shop, hang out, make something, and kick off the holiday season with us.

And if you’re a small business owner, maker, food or beverage vendor who wants to be part of it, vendor applications are OPEN NOW! We’ll keep applications open for about a week before we begin selecting this year’s vendors.

Instead of taking their group of 100 finance professionals, in town from all over the country, bowling, they catered in food, set up a bar, and brought us in for a custom Patch Bar during happy hour.

We created a custom collection complete with branded patches and their color scheme, then guests got to choose their item, make it their own, and leave with something they actually wanted to take home.

If you’re looking for something to do with your team or clients that they’ll actually enjoy, remember, and engage with, this is what we do!

Owning a business with ADHD has required me to learn a lot about what actually gets my brain to execute.

Because I can plan and execute an entire event for 100 people, build a business, get myself to the gym at 8:30 every morning and drive across the country but scheduling an appointment, responding to a text, or putting away a basket of laundry? 😬😬😬

I’m learning that I need to pay attention to what gives my brain enough stimulation to actually DO the thing, instead of constantly beating myself up for the things that feel really hard.

The gym has become a really important baseline for me because of that. I start my day doing something that requires consistency, discipline and effort. It’s like I’m proving to myself first thing in the morning that I CAN be consistent. I can follow through. I can do hard things. And I am strong AF.

Starting my day with that proof makes it a little easier to try and carry that capable version of myself into running my business.

Still figuring out the laundry though. 😵‍💫🫠
