Two years ago, or an eternity ago, Yoav Brill and I released a short animated film called "Temporarily Removed".

It was a film we worked on for what felt like forever - but a different kind of forever. The forever of animation, of waiting for answers from film funds, of re-editing and re-thinking, of asking ourselves “maybe we’ll move this scene over there,” “maybe we’ll change the ending again,” of more backgrounds and even more animation. A positive forever, full of movement, creation, and visits to museums. Against the backdrop of today’s turbulent reality - something we couldn’t imagine while we were working - the film made a round of festivals around the world and has now completed its circuit.

Now Temporarily Removed" is being released online! You’re invited to watch it, share it with friends, acquaintances, and anyone interested. It’s a comedy (!) about a museum guard - a slightly odd, amusing pause from everything.

So much has happened in these two years - both too much, and nothing. At one of the festivals, a Polish animator asked me how we weren’t making films about “the situation,” and instead were busy with a museum comedy. My answer was that “the situation” is our life - we need to do something beyond that… by @dotan.gold

I traveled with *Temporarily Removed*, to the Taichung Animation Festival(!).
Unfortunately, Yoav had to fly to Canada at the exact same time, so I went, along with our museum guard, for two weeks in Taiwan*. After a journey of about 36 hours, I landed just in time, with my bag and suitcase, for the opening conference in Taichung. From there, I spent a total of ten days at the Taichung Animation Festival and a few additional days in Taipei.

- Animators are the nicest people, followed closely by the Taiwanese.
- I met amazing animators from various places, including one or two personal heroes. There were fascinating late-night conversations about art, politics, animation, politics, budgets, politics, and more amusing topics.
- The screenings at the festival went exceptional, and the panels afterward were even better. The audience was truly engaged, asking questions that showed real interest and involvement. It was impressive.
- The green of a subtropical jungle is unlike any other green. The vibrant life of a place that has never known water scarcity. More than once, I found myself stroking the lichen or simply staring at the jungle spilling into the city.
- I gave two lectures at the Taipei National University of the Arts—
The Film Department arranged for someone to pick me up from the hotel, there was an interpreter, a technical contact, and they even sent feedback from the students (I had ChatGPT translate from Chinese, and it firmly claims they said it was good).
I met the head of the department at the festival, and she suggested, "Why don’t you come and talk to the animators?" So I returned to the university for a second round. This time, I took the metro, and they made me coffee in the department. That’s how it is in animation—everything is less formal :) I toured the campus, we had lunch together, and it was a lot of fun. Have I mentioned animators are great people?
- There’s a vast world out there in Asia, rich and abundant, and it turns out they get my humor.

I narrowly escaped a typhoon that hit Taipei hours after I took off and returned with my mind swirling with thoughts. Until the next journey. by @dotan.gold

Some time ago, i was approached to create illustrated scenes for the documentary series- Corridors of Power - a documentary examining the US's responsibilities as the world's only global superpower after the fall of the Soviet Union.

The illustrated sequences, narrated by the lovely Meryl Streep, were to give a
humane portrayal of the stories and people involved against the overwhelming backdrop of archival footage.

Overall close to a 100 illustrations were done for five sequences.

In the following months i'll be publishing illustrations and some of the preliminary sketches.

Amazing news—our short animated museum film is going to be shown at the British Museum next week!

It’s a dream come true that I didn’t even know I had.

So, A quick film update—Yoav Brill and I released "Temporarily Removed", our short animated museum comedy, last summer simultaneously in Israel and Rhode Island (we only found out two months ago that it even won a prize there).
Since then, the film has traveled around the world - in mid-September, we decided to take it to South Korea, to Seoul, for a fantastic festival experience. About two weeks after we returned, everything went haywire and our attention was kidnapped away to other places.
Just two months earlier, in August, when we talked about backups, I told Yoav to just put it on a hard drive at his parents' place in Kibbutz Be'eri.

Anyway, the film continued to travel the world without us —it had the chance to visit several festivals in the Far East, some in Eastern Europe, and even some on the East Coast of the United States (and the West Coast...).
About two weeks ago, we got the news that we were accepted into some festival in England—always pretty nice news but then we saw where—the British *flipping* Museum (excuse my language).
In my wildest imaginations, I never thought it would get there, especially since animations are usually not shown in museums and because it's *the* museum (and also because my wild imaginations aren't usually about screenings).
More updates later, In the meantime, excitement is at its peak.

Pick led me straight to pick axe and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Moral ambiguity and lustful murder and some weird body angles for fun.

For Pressure day I decided to make a small homage to one of my favorite Neo-Noirs - Roger Rabbit.
Judge Doom getting smooshed by the steam roller is one of the most iconic, and memorable scenes ever.
