Dans une terre grasse et pleine d’escargots
Je veux creuser moi-même une fosse profonde,
Où je puisse à loisir étaler mes vieux os
Et dormir dans l’oubli comme un requin dans l’onde.

Je hais les testaments et je hais les tombeaux ;
Plutôt que d’implorer une larme du monde,
Vivant, j’aimerais mieux inviter les corbeaux
A saigner tous les bouts de ma carcasse immonde.

O vers! noirs compagnons sans oreille et sans yeux,
Voyez venir à vous un mort libre et joyeux ;
Philosophes viveurs, fils de la pourriture,

A travers ma ruine allez donc sans remords,

Loin du noir océan de l’immonde cité,
Vers un autre océan où la splendeur éclate,
Bleu, clair, profond, ainsi que la virginité ?

La mer, la vaste mer, console nos labeurs !
Quel démon a doté la mer, rauque chanteuse
Qu’accompagne l’immense orgue des vents grondeurs,
De cette fonction sublime de berceuse ?

Emporte-moi, wagon ! enlève-moi, frégate !
Loin ! loin ! ici la boue est faite de nos pleurs !
- Est-il vrai que parfois le triste coeur d’Agathe
Dise : Loin des remords, des crimes, des douleurs,

Comme vous êtes loin, paradis parfumé,
Où sous un clair azur tout n’est qu’amour et joie,
Où tout ce que l’on aime est digne d’être aimé,
Où dans la volupté pure le coeur se noie !

Mais le vert paradis des amours enfantines,
Les courses, les chansons, les baisers, les bouquets,
Les violons vibrant derrière les collines,

🥀 This series of illustrations, initially designed for Baudelaire’s 𝐿𝑒𝑠 𝐹𝑙𝑒𝑢𝑟𝑠 𝑑𝑢 𝑀𝑎𝑙, was first published in the fanzine Voiesx by @champlibrerecords . Conceived as Polaroid snapshots, they capture the fleeting essence of poetic moments. Each drawing reflects the spirit of the poems: the melancholy of Spleen, the radiance of The Ideal, navigating between passion, fascination, the violence of emotions, despair, and debauchery.
