It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the accidental passing of Leah Marie Symon Thorpe, who touched the lives of so many with her generosity, humour, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

In 1997, Leah met the love of her life, David. They knew early on that they had found something special and were married on June 23, 2001.

Their greatest joys were their children, Anastasia, born in 2004, and Reichen, born in 2007. Being their mother is Leah’s greatest accomplishment and the role she treasured most. Her family meant everything to her. She loved nothing more than being there for her children, supporting them, cheering them on, and being their biggest fan in everything they did. She was immensely proud of them and will always be a part of their lives, cheering them on every step of the way.

Leah’s family would like to thank the many people who loved her, supported her, laughed with her, and shared in the countless moments that made her life so special.

A time to remember will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m., at Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road, Ottawa. Friends and family are warmly invited to come together to remember Leah, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable person she is.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Anastasia and Reichen’s post secondary education fund ( https://gofund.me/0cb15942c) or The Salvation Army.

Leah leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, friendship, and memories. She gave so much of herself to the people around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
