RETURNING TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY ❤️

Before the pandemic, Dr. Chang Bum Shin had the privilege of serving seniors in the Tongan community through pain management and acupuncture.

Now, after several years, we are very happy to return — this time through Doctors on the Road International (DOTRI).

The community has grown beautifully and now brings together Tongan, Samoan, Cambodian, and Vietnamese seniors. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve everyone together.

Beginning in October, Dr. Shin and DOTRI will visit the community each month to provide free pain management services, including acupuncture, acupressure, and Fractal Balancing, along with simple health education for seniors.

It feels wonderful to come back to a familiar community and begin a new chapter of service. ❤️

Go where the patients are.
Serve where we are needed.
Care without borders.

PAST MISSION | BAMBANG, PHILIPPINES 2024 🇵🇭

In 2024, Dr. Chang Bum Shin had the privilege of serving the community of Bambang, Philippines, alongside Northwest Mission of Hope, a nonprofit organization.

Each day, an average of 80 patients received acupuncture and pain management treatments. For many of them, it was their first experience with acupuncture and this type of pain care.

It was deeply meaningful to see how simple, hands-on treatment could bring comfort and relief to people with limited access to these services.

This mission became another reminder of why we serve:
Go where the patients are. Serve where we are needed. Care without borders.

PAST MISSION | PHILIPPINES 2024 🇵🇭

In 2024, Dr. Shin joined Northwest Mission of Hope for a volunteer medical mission in Bambang, Philippines.

Each day, he saw approximately 80 patients, with long lines of people waiting patiently to receive care from a neurologist and pain management specialist.

For many patients, this was the first time in their lives they had ever been evaluated by a neurologist.

We remain grateful for the opportunity to serve these communities and for every patient who trusted us with their care.

Go where the patients are.
Serve where we are needed.
Care without borders.

WHO WE ARE 🌍🩺

Doctors on the Road International started with a simple idea:

Go where the patients are.

During a medical mission in Kenya in 2025 with Northwest Mission of Hope, we noticed someone outside who was unable to come into the clinic. So instead of waiting for her to come to us, Dr. Shin and our medical team went outside to care for her. It was a simple moment, but one that stayed with us.

Sometimes caring means going to where people are and doing what we can. We cannot help everyone. But we can care for the person in front of us.

Go where the patients are.
Serve where we are needed.
Care without borders.

Our Story 🌍🩺

Doctors on the Road International began with a simple dream.

As Dr. Chang Bum Shin approached retirement after many years of caring for patients, he often said that he didn’t want to simply stop being a doctor. He wanted to become a true “doctor on the road”—free to go wherever people needed him, without having to rush back to his clinic.

After serving on medical missions in the Philippines, Kenya, and Paraguay, that dream became even clearer. We saw how much can be done when medical professionals are willing to leave the comfort of home, travel to underserved communities, and simply serve.

That is how Doctors on the Road International began.

Our purpose is simple: to bring compassionate medical care to underserved communities around the world, working alongside local healthcare providers and communities whenever possible.

We may not be able to help everyone, but we can go where we are needed and care for the person in front of us.

Go where the patients are.
Serve where we are needed.
Care without borders. 🌎❤️
