Who thought May would spark more reflection than December? Not me. The caption space isn’t big enough to get all the sentiments, but here’s a rundown.Five years ago, I moved to this city that had gotten me way before I moved here.On the way here? Some remarkable, generous, kind and loving souls made sure my path would be fruitful.My Toronto friends sent me off well-fed, supported, and tried to convince me to stay — as if we’d miss each other 🙄And on the road to BC, one kind soul offered a night’s rest in their Northern Ontario cottage, saving me a gruelling 14-hour drive to Manitoba. Another ensured I had the perfect road snacks, and they were indeed perfect.In the curling capital of the world (AKA our country’s crime capital) I saw a foxy statue.Had a peaceful note in the window of my car to prevent it from being beaten or vandalized. Because of the Ontario plates 😅 Regina felt untouched by the pandemic, no stabby vibes.In Calgary, a kind soul insisted I rest at their place, providing food and a breakfast-to-go for my BC journey. A school send-off, but better. I also snuck a ‘Berta mountain highway pic.The HOWL I unleashed when driving past the “Welcome to Beautiful British Columbia” sign with watery-but-clear eyes and a full heart was unforgettable. In Kelowna, another kind soul offered a place to rest. We pizza’d by a lake and had a Marvel night. I can’t wait to return!Finally, I reached my new home, greeted with help. Moving means an empty fridge, but not with these loving souls. They brought some of my favourite snacks, homemade goodies, and a plant that lasted years, until I could grocery shop.Annnd one of my first False Creek sunset views. What a chapter change. Hair and beard by: pandemic restrictions (and bets) Number of full budget car concerts: over 20 Audiobooks: 1 Phone calls: plenty Enjoying the silence: lots by @doublds
