It’s been a long time coming. 26 years. Ever since I was born, dairy has been my arch nemesis throughout most of my life. I would say about 85% of the times I had to take Benadryl was because of my dairy allergy. Usually, my symptoms would fade away. However, the times I would have too much by accident, my symptoms would range from hives all over my body, itchiness pretty much everywhere, watery eyes, asthma attack, closed up throat, vomiting, puffed up face, etc. That would mean I would have to use my Epi-pen and head to the emergency room. 8 times throughout my elementary, middle, high school years I’ve had to make that trip due to my dairy allergy. I hated every minute of it. When I started my studies at CIM, I was really nervous because I had to be by myself to deal with my allergies. What I ended up doing was what my mom would do that helped me outgrow part of my shellfish/seafood allergy; I started micro dosing on little bits of dairy overtime. I was dead set on building my immunity to it the time I was up there. For most of the time I was micro dosing, it went well; but sometimes I pushed it a little too far. Luckily, I would manage my reaction on my own and it would fade away. This trend would keep going over and over….until this year. Coincidentally, throughout my whole calorie deficit/cut journey, I ended up trying way higher concentrations of dairy over the course of these last months without reacting. But, I still hadn’t tried drinking milk head on; I was hesitant…until now. Here is me truly embracing dairy and trying these foods and drinking milk for the very first time, and the most important part, having no allergic reaction. I’ve waited so long for this to come to fruition, and it’s been such a roller coaster of a ride. I would like to deeply thank my parents all these years of being by my side catering to my food needs, all the emergency room visits, and providing me with the coverage to keep my health intact. Last but not least, God, I thank you for giving me the strength to outgrow this allergy once and for all. Just know, I’m praying for you all who may have an allergy to outgrow it; it’s only a matter of time🙏 by @double_aantonio

I wanted to share this journey that I went through this past spring/summer. Ever since I graduated CIM back in 2023 and got my position with VSO, it’s been a blast. Making my connections here in my hometown through the music industry and doing what I love has been a blessing. However, I really started looking myself in the mirror, literally. I was looking at myself in pictures with my family and friends. Then, some of my family members pointed out to me, ”Hey Alex, you’re looking a little…you know” or “It looks like you’ve gained some weight”. Hearing that aghast me. It made me contemplate for a while. I started weighing myself after and really noticed on the scale and the mirror; I had really let myself go the past 3 years after graduating. I had noticed I wasn’t really physically active outside of doing music and I would basically eat with no clear limits.
Back then when I was a kid throughout school, I was always active without having to think about it. P.E will still hold a special place in my heart. I was always competitive when it came to all the activities they had us do; whether it’d be the fitness tests (I know you guys remember that dreaded pacer test, but I lived for that pacer test😂), kickball tournaments, 4-square, tetherball, pickup soccer/basketball/football games; that was the only class I looked forward to in “academic” school everytime. For after or outside of school, I played USTA travel tennis and travel bowling league. These two sports I love dearly and they would really push-up me mentally when it came to my competitive edge. All these things I did were still always fun for me and I didn’t take myself too seriously. Also, I’ve had asthma my whole life and I really had problems with my asthma attacks when sleeping over these couple of years. I had thought it was my lil brother, Greenbean (actually pet cat, but he’s my brother in my eyes😊) because I am technically still allergic to cats. I just resorted to taking more Zyrtec and taking my asthma medication more. There was a quote my mom said to me a while back that resurfaced in my memory saying, ”Your heart is the most important muscle to work on.”

What a surreal, magical, majestic, unforgettable, oh gosh I could use the whole dictionary to describe this Dreamer experience. It was truly an honor, a privilege, and a blessing to share stage with you @laufey it was Like the Movies on how cinematic it was. Not only that, but to perform the two shows for over 40 of my Bewitched family members that I booked in one section (sorry VAF ticket presales😅) on top of family friends and childhood to recent friends in my hometown was the cherry on top. But, what was even more special to me was the fact my lil sister @soundslikeviv @viv.anto was able to watch you and her brother perform together, the one who introduced me to your music, the one who’s inspired by you and looks up to you like a Goddess in every musical way as a musician herself, the one who supported you From The Start of your career, that is the stem to that cherry on top. Also, thank you so much for picking us, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, to start the tour, to premiere your unreleased songs of Forget Me Not & Snow White, and also to premiere your first orchestral performances of Tough Luck & Lover Girl from your new upcoming album, A Matter of Time. With your A Night At The Symphony Tour all wrapped up, I Wish You Love, luck, & best wishes for your new album, your upcoming Tour, and everything else in your life. Hope to have you back soon!!
