My first Alice Feeney book! Off to a great start. This book combined a real life game of clue with an extra twist at the end. As someone that constantly tries to guess plot outcomes- I couldn't even formulate a possible ending. I know I said some wtf style words when the twist slapped me in the face 😂
I read some of the Goodreads reviews after I finished- I do not agree with the comments that the mystery is "slow." Any book that takes you over 2 weeks to read could feel slow because of longer breaks in the story line. I listened to this on 1.5 speed and finished in a day and a half with regular life activities.

Have you read any crazy plot twist books lately?

Next up in our Essential Bookshelf Series... Mysteries!🕵️‍♀️

We've included some seriously beloved books here, with tones ranging from cozy, to societal commentary, to cerebral pondering, to wackadoo. Mysteries really do come in all flavors! 📚

Fall and winter are the perfect seasons for tucking in and unraveling a mystery. 🔍

Not pictured: a beloved series featuring Detective Nero Wolfe, no longer in print, by Rex Stout. I read them with my grandmother and now search every used book store for copies to rebuild the series she had. 💚 by @double_bookd

A *very special* bookstore has opened in Maryland! But it is so much more than a bookstore ... It is the "third space" that is currently endangered in today's communities.

The @brady_readery has stolen my heart. There are cozy nooks and crannies where anyone can curl up quietly with a book, or sit and chat with a friend. Every corner has a delight to behold. There are drinks and snacks for sale, tons of games and activities for sale, and so many whimsical and unique things to see and do.

The children's section has a library shelf just for borrowing and returning. My son immediately curled up inside a reading tent and read while I explored. There's a puzzle next to the couch for people to come work on, there are chess boards, there is ample seating, and the vibe is very welcoming. Brady Readery also hosts all kinds of community events, from murder mystery parties to book clubs to quilting lessons.

This is my new favorite spot - and it is worth the trip if you aren't close by. Check out their events calendar!

Some of my favorite book people have been touting the Dungeon Crawler Series for many months. Several of those friends are the same people that told me to read the Emma Lion series, which absolutely made my reading year!!

Side Note: There are several similarities between these series, despite the very different worlds they inhabit!

I entered the dungeon through a combo of the audiobooks (Audible trial and a fun purchase hack make the books super cheap) and the e-books. The initial premise stressed me out a bit- I am not experienced with post-apocalyptic stories, so I had to adjust my brain a bit to get on board. But I am so glad I did. DCC Books 1 and 2 offered so much of what I love - Humor, humanity, found family, boundless creativity, character development, vivid world building, and truly, just so much fun.

Side Note 2: The audiobooks are fantastic. I'm not a huge book listener because I don't retain information well that way, but the characters and story TRULY come alive through the audio version.

I've been avoiding looking anything up to dodge spoilers. So to those of you who have been telling the world about these books, I ask the following questions:

👾 What is your favorite book of the series so far?
👾 Do we know how many there will be?
👾 Without explanation to avoid spoilers, who is your favorite character so far?
👾 Is there an official name for fans of this series?
👾 Anything else that's good to know for a beginner?

See ya in the dungeon! by @double_bookd
