We opened Double Black because we wanted a space that felt a little more like a neighborhood living room than a coffee shop. Somewhere you could meet a friend, make a new one, grab a cookie, have a drink, and stay longer than you planned.

Four weeks in, it’s been busy every single day and seeing people use the space exactly the way we hoped they would has meant so much to us. Cheers to many more weeks and months of folks settling in and staying awhile. taken in San Francisco, California by @doubleblacksf

We’re proud to pour coffee from people we know, not too far from home

Meet the roasters behind our coffee. Our drip is roasted by our neighbor Dan from at @birdandbearcoffee, right down the street in Cole Valley. And our espresso and cold brew come from @andrewbbarnett and the team at @lineacaffe across the city by @doubleblacksf

While designing our menu, we knew we wanted to add something a little ridiculous. Enter the giant chocolate chip cookie 🍪

Fun facts: It’s 9-inches in diameter, baked fresh every morning by @saltwater_bakeshop, made of 1-lb of dough with french chocolate and flaky sea salt, and best of all, it’s gluten free!

Come and stay awhile. We’re hosting our Grand Opening this Thursday, August 6th as we kickstart our regular hours (7 am-5 pm) and introduce the Peel Out🍌, our new seasonal latte created with our friend @violetwitchel.

At Yardsale, we’ve always believed the best days are shared with friends. Double Black has become where those days begin and end. It’s been two weeks since we opened the doors to Double Black, and our little corner of Cole Valley has been pretty busy ever since.

We hoped that this space would become somewhere you could grab a coffee, meet a friend, or get some work done but we didn’t quite expect how quickly that would happen. Two weeks in, it already feels like the space has taken on a life of its own.

We’ve had a few surprises along the way: emergency milk runs, running out of cold brew by 10am, and plenty of notes in our comment box that we’ve loved reading. But mostly, we’ve been blown away by how quickly the community has embraced the space. Seeing familiar faces come back, meeting new ones, and watching the place fill up day after day has been pretty incredible.

Thanks to everyone who’s stopped by, brought a friend, shared a kind word, left us a note, or been patient while we find our rhythm. We’re still making tweaks every day, and we’re excited to keep building Double Black with you. taken in Cole Valley, San Francisco by @doubleblacksf
