Today we’ve been working on two Velociraptors from the kitchen scene in Jurassic Park (1993)! 🦖

The eyes are almost finished, and we’ve built a stand so everything can be assembled properly.

The Raptors still need some finishing work and sanding. Once that’s done, we can install the eyes and finally start painting them!

For Comic-Con in November, we’ll be displaying just the heads. Then, for Comic-Con in June 2027, we’ll assemble the complete bodies, attach the heads, and recreate the entire kitchen scene from Jurassic Park!

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but it’s all starting to come together! 🔥🦖

The eyes were painted by Kimberly and, of course, myself, and were 3D sculpted by Maarten van Hoeven. 🦖🎨

The Reptors were made by Double Dome Studios and are made of ABS. They were printed on a Creality K2 Plus.

A little behind-the-scenes look at our Big Chap from Alien! 👽🎨

The paint job was done mainly using Vallejo paints, with a combination of airbrushing and hand-painting with brushes to bring out all the details.

Kimberly worked on the Alien eggs and Facehuggers, and I guided her throughout the process. She did a great job!

The sculpture is made of resin and completely filled with polyurethane, making it an extremely heavy piece.

This amazing Big Chap design, originally created by the incredibly talented 3D artist Bulkamancer, was enlarged to an incredible 300% of its original size.

The entire piece was printed in resin and then completely filled with polyurethane, making this an extremely heavy sculpture.

Because of its massive size and the fact that it’s made entirely from resin, there was a LOT of work involved afterwards. Countless adjustments, modifications, sanding, and filling were needed to close all the seams and get everything looking right.

And finally, the paint job is finished! 🎨🔥 It was a massive job and a long, challenging process, but seeing everything come together makes it all worthwhile.

A special shout-out to Kimberly, who painted the Alien eggs. Of course, I helped her along the way and showed her some examples of the look I wanted to achieve, but she did a fantastic job bringing them to life. She’s doing really well, and I’m very proud of the result!

Another day, another round of bringing movie creatures to life. 🔥

Today at the workshop, Kimberly was working on the Velociraptor eyes, while I started the first stages of the Big Chap from Alien. 👽

From Jurassic Park to Alien — practical effects, creature work, sculpting and plenty of sanding, shaping and painting. Just another day behind the scenes in our workshop. 🎬💀

Creating monsters is hard work… but someone’s got to do it. 😎

We’re currently working on the paintwork of our life-size Velociraptors from the iconic kitchen scene in Jurassic Park 1. 🦖

For this project, we have to work in a slightly different order. The eyes need to be painted first and then installed into the Velociraptor heads. Once they are positioned correctly, the surrounding area has to be sculpted and finished around the eyes.

After that, an additional epoxy layer will be applied to the eyes to create an as realistic and lifelike finish as possible.

Only once the eyes are completely installed and finished can we carefully mask them off and start painting the Velociraptors themselves.

The eyes were beautifully 3D sculpted by Maarten Verhoeven, bringing an incredible level of detail to this project.

More to come as these life-size Velociraptors start coming to life! 🦖🎨

🦖 THE EYES ARE WATCHING… 👁️

Something is coming back to the kitchen…

We’re currently creating two life-size Velociraptors from the iconic kitchen scene in Jurassic Park (1993). And when you’re building something at this scale, it’s the smallest details that make the biggest difference.

For the eyes, we wanted something truly special. So we asked the incredibly talented Maarten Verhoeven to sculpt them in 3D.

This is the result. 👁️🔥

But we’re not finished yet…

The eyes still need to be carefully painted and finished with a crystal-clear epoxy layer, giving them that realistic, wet and lifelike appearance.

I’m already very curious to see how these Raptors will look once everything comes together.

🦖🦖 These two Velociraptor heads will be on display at Heroes Dutch Comic Con on 21 & 22 November 2026.

And trust me…

You’re going to want to look them in the eyes. 👀

🦖 PEOPLE THINK WE’RE CRAZY… AND THEY MIGHT BE RIGHT! 😂

People are already telling us we’re completely crazy for taking on a project like this. And honestly… they might have a point. 😅

But that’s exactly why we’re doing it!

We’re extremely excited to announce our next major project for Heroes Dutch Comic Con this November! 🔥

We’re bringing one of the most iconic moments from Jurassic Park to life — the terrifying kitchen scene where the Velociraptors enter through the kitchen doors. 😱

And this won’t be a miniature or scale model. Everything will be built life-size, 1:1 scale.

For this year’s Comic Con, we’ll start with the two life-size Velociraptor heads, recreated at full 1:1 scale and based on the iconic creatures from the original Jurassic Park kitchen scene. These will be the first part of the project to be displayed at the convention in November.

But this is only the beginning…

For next year’s Comic Con, the plan is to build the entire life-size kitchen scene — including both full-size Velociraptors, the complete kitchen environment and all the details that make this scene so iconic.

It will be a massive 1:1 scale diorama and display. A huge amount of work, but we believe the end result will be something truly special. 🦖🍽️🔥

This project is a collaboration between some amazing talents:

👁️ Maarten Verhoeven — designing the eyes in 3D
🦖 Double Dome Studios — creating the life-size Velociraptors
🎨 Diorama Builder / myself — final finishing, painting, coloring, detailing and all the modifications needed to bring these creatures to life.

Two incredible creations based on the amazing 3D designs by Maarten Verhoeven — completely brought to life in resin. 🖤🔥

First, the stunning Bram Stoker’s Dracula door piece, based on Maarten’s original 3D design and inspired by the iconic movie poster. In this clip, I’m showing a little behind-the-scenes look at how this incredible piece was built up, layer by layer, and transformed from a digital design into a physical work of art.

And then there’s this amazing Alien plaque, also based on one of Maarten’s original 3D designs and completely made from resin. The level of detail in these designs is absolutely insane.
From Maarten’s digital creations to fully finished physical pieces — it’s always an incredible process to see these designs come to life.

We’re working on this incredible project from the iconic film Bram Stoker’s Dracula. 🧛‍♂️

We’re creating this piece specifically for Comic-Con in November, so it has to be finished by then. Still a LOT of work to do, but we’re getting there! 🔥

This entire project is being created in collaboration with Diorama Builder and Double Dome Studios.

And this is one of the best 3D designers I know — Maarten Verhoeven. Definitely take a look at his page as well! 👀

Maarten Verhoeven will also be joining us at the Diorama Builder stand, where he’ll be there to show some of his amazing work and share more about what he does.

So freaking cool!!
