Turned around for a minute to find the twins had made up an umbrella stepping-alphabet singing game? Let’s call it independent play & take the win

The newborn days were some of the hardest of my entire life.. and some of the sweetest. Triple feeding twins on no sleep + a bout of mastitis is no joke. & still, I’d do anything to go back to that time.

been a pretty good reading year over here as I get back in the swing of things! short reviews of each below

AUDITION: mind-bending, smart, weird, got me excited to be a reader
THE COMPOUND: weird, tense, love island+lord of the flies, unlikeable characters
THE THRASHERS: a perfect YA thriller, fun, fast-paced
ONE GOLDEN SUMMER: my fave romance of the year, nostalgic, sunny, high school summer
HEARTWOOD: hazy, tense, mysterious
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING: ow
DEEP CUTS: more unlikable (but real feeling) characters, fun musical references
THE FAVORITES: dramatic, soapy, dark
THE RIVER HAS ROOTS: whimsical with dark undertones, short, magical
PENITENCE: taut, icy

4.5 ⭐️ for HEARTWOOD by Amity Gaige! I really enjoyed my reading experience of this- it was tense and very character driven and the multi POV propelled it forward so well (though one of the POVs was really lacking for me…). Overall, a really great summer read for my lit fic-lite friends, or those that prefer more character development in their mystery/thriller books. by @doublybooked

come along with us to @whitewhalebks for an author event with Kevin Wilson!

it was such a great night hearing about Kevin Wilson’s process, how he brings characters to life, the pieces of himself that he writes into his books. also, he is deeply funny. I cannot wait to dive into RUN FOR THE HILLS. what a gem of an author & a great event. taken in White Whale Books & Coffee by @doublybooked
