This trip was all about enjoying long ferry rides, 23 hours on the way out and 18 hours on the way back.

I took a ferry from Yokosuka to Moji, then wandered through Moji, Hagi, Izumo, and Kagawa before heading to Tokushima to catch another ferry back to Tokyo.

Each place had a quiet, old Japan atmosphere that felt beautifully preserved, and seeing those landscapes was one of the highlights of the journey.

Six amazing days in Sydney.
So happy I got to meet all the adorable animals.

Visited 東大寺Tōdaiji and 飛鳥寺 Asukadera today!
Saw the Great Buddha at Tōdaiji, and at Asukadera I got to see Japan’s oldest Buddhist statue.
Had kaki (persimmon) udon for lunch — such a unique and tasty dish.
