Hi! I’m Sofia Quadri a 37 years old devout Muslim women and mum of 5 kids. I’m also proudly Indian Hyderabadi and Afghani on my mums side, Indian Hyderabadi and English on me dads side, and for much of my life, I searched for my calling. (I promise this is a short sob story)

In the whirlwind of marriage, infertility, child loss, pregnancy loss, pregnancy, and motherhood, I found myself asking 2 difficult questions: What the hell just happened? and Who am I now? Because all the above changed me little by little until I no longer knew myself.

I thought I had the answer, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister but somewhere along the way, I lost my sense of self and confidence. My identity felt blurred, my purpose uncertain.

Yet throughout it all, there was an inner voice that never left me it was cheeky, clever, a little cocky perhaps annoyingly poking me to be heard. And when I finally listened, that voice with the encouragement of my beautiful cousin, led me to chocolate.

For the first time, I feel truly at peace. My hands create, my mind creates just as my womb once did. Through crafting each bar, through painting with love and care, I’ve rediscovered joy.

Now, I share that joy with others. Each bar is an extension of myself and my journey, and as cliche as it sounds, it’s truly created from the heart and seeing the happiness it brings to hundreds of customers fills me with joy, confidence, purpose and self love I never imagined to be possible.

This is me. This is my calling to create, feel the love and spread it. And I just got started:)

This is a new project I’ve been thinking about for a while. It might take off, it might not. It might grow slowly, or it might not grow at all. But I know I have to start somewhere and at the very least, I’ve done something to soothe my conscience. 💔

It’s hard feeling helpless in the face of what’s happening in Gaza. So I’m doing what I can, with what I have…chocolate and Art. With names, stories and memories I’m hopeful this project will be a force for hope and some relief for the beautiful children suffering and being starved.

Each week, I’ll be dedicating a few watermelon themed chocolate bar to one child from Gaza, to honour their name, their life, their memory. 100% of the profits from that bar will go to the child’s family.

This is where I need your help. If you have contacts in Gaza, or know someone who does please share this or reach out.

One name at a time. One story at a time. One chocolate bar at a time.

Watching Gen z take on a facist regime

I care deeply about people and the situations they face around the world. Politics matters to me because policies are meant to improve people’s lives, not make them harder.

If you haven’t been following what’s happening in India, we’re witnessing a moment that many are calling historic. What started out as a protest for justice for NEET students has now opened pandoras box.
What has made me particularly proud is seeing so many young people, students, those who have been silenced, former BJP supporters…finding their voices, organising, and demanding accountability.

India is governed by the @bjp4india , a party that many critics accuse of promoting Hindu nationalist policies, a facist regime. Many Indian Muslims feel that, over recent years, political rhetoric and some government actions have increasingly made them feel like outsiders in a country their families have called home for generations.

Under the satirical and now a full fledged organised party @cocoroachjantaparty people ask for justice and a better India

For many, this isn’t just about politics. It’s personal. Muslims are often made to feel as though they must repeatedly prove their loyalty and patriotism, yet many still feel viewed with suspicion. That reality affects my own family. My father who has built a life in India has to prove this all the time..and watching policies and public discourse create new anxieties for Muslims has been deeply painful.

This is one of the reasons I’ve felt increasingly uncomfortable about returning. The place my family calls home has, at times, felt less welcoming.

History has repeatedly shown us what can happen when governments begin separating people into those who belong and those who do not. Whether based on religion, ethnicity or race, the consequences can be devastating. That is why I believe we should challenge narratives that dehumanise entire communities and stand up for the equal rights and dignity of every citizen.

I hope for an India where no one has to prove they belong because of their faith…where people are judged by their character, their contribution, and their humanity, not by the religion they were by @dough.nosh

Monet paints in a way that fascinates me. His colours merge without ever completely losing themselves. His brushstrokes gather into a landscape, yet each one remains visible, blended and unblended at the same time. There’s a looseness to it, a freedom, and I thoroughly enjoy that form of it.

It’s as though the painting never quite settles, and I take so much inspiration from his work in my photography and art work.

I think this is my first ever 2-star review.

Oddly enough, it doesn’t bother me anymore. Reviews like this can actually be really helpful because they open the door to talk about why something happened.

If I’m being completely honest, I’ve found that my marshmallow bars don’t travel quite as well as their brothers and sisters. They’re a little more… emotional.

Sending chocolate internationally is stressful for the bars. Most of them behave beautifully. They know they’re carrying my reputation. But sometimes, even the best ones have a little breakdown.

Heat affects every filling differently. Some fillings expand slightly as they absorb moisture, while marshmallow has a tendency to do what marshmallows do best… cry.

The sugars begin to soften, the marshmallow loses some of its structure and airy texture, and in extreme temperatures it can become sticky or even a little soupy. Chocolate itself can also become slightly gummy after repeated temperature changes, and fillings may expand, changing the texture you were originally meant to experience.

So if you’re ordering chocolate during warmer weather, especially for international shipping, please keep this in mind. It doesn’t necessarily mean the chocolate has gone bad, it simply means temperature has changed its personality

Chocolate is a little like us. It prefers stability, a gentle journey, and being treated kindly. 9/10 times it arrives exactly as intended, and sometimes the weather has other plans.

Chocolate is beautiful. It has given so much to me and my family, and if I could shout from the rooftops about what it has done for me, I would!

But I also know that this beauty has come at a cost.

So I will always carry it in my mind, body and soul that I have benefitted from an industry with a history of exploitation.

And I hope, InshaAllah, that one day I can be part of the change that is so deeply needed.

And thankyou @bramley_apple for reminding me of chocolate day ❤️
