Rule #1: Never give @shalomharlow a camera.
For the Unzipped finale I wanted to capture the runway from the model’s POV.
The obvious choice? Shalom.
I imagined graceful, floating shots worthy of Kubrick.
Shalom delivered absolute chaos. The camera flew everywhere.
I thought…disastrous. 😱
It ended up being one of my favorite shots in the film.
Funny how that works. ❤️

Just caught Marc by Sofia at MOMA’s DOC Fortnight closing night and I’m still thinking about it 🖤
My favorite moment? Watching Sofia walk into Marc’s studio carrying her own tripod. That’s documentary. You get your hands dirty. Small crew (or better yet, no crew), real intimacy, real trust — and you can feel it in Marc & Sofia’s relationship…it’s major.
So fun sitting with trevor smith, @chadsipkin and @jane_chacutler. Huge love to Producer Jane for the perseverance making this film happen. I sat directly behind Marc and Sofia, and that was the best part, seeing them loving the audience‘s reactions. Trevor always makes the ride a joy. And Chad’s edit was 🔥. And of course, @c.klarsfeld DJ magic at the after party. Oh, and wonderful intro and Q&A by curator @sophiecavoulacos who created the festival

People always ask how we got Unzipped to look the way it does. We shot on Super 8 for a dreamy, textured look, and super 16, a much larger film stock akin to 35 mm but a much smaller camera that enabled us to follow the action.

Isaac let us in completely. We “lived” his chaotic, hilarious, intense world and that raw energy is what makes the film still feel so alive.
And the icons. Naomi, Kate, Cindy, Linda, Amber, Christy, Shalom. Just doing their thing in total realness. The nerves, the magic, the muse and the mess. You know, those little in-between moments that you never get, but we did.

Got to shoot something fabulous with the one and only @cindycrawford — total icon. Afterward, she gave me a tour of her house (!!) and showed me the most jaw-dropping collection of photos from her shoots over the years. We’re talking Avedon, Penn, Demarchelier, Helmut Newton… basically every legendary photographer who ever mattered. And yes, those mini Vogue covers with Avedon? Still magic.

After 37 years at the helm of American Vogue, Anna Wintour is stepping down. It has been rumored for years. And the rumors were always false. Until now.

I’ve worked on these films with Anna many times. Always a bit nerve-racking. She didn’t suffer fools. And she was excellent at the interview. I don’t ever remember doing a second take. Not once. She could talk about fashion in a smart, informed, and even an excited way. After answering each question, she would very earnestly say to me, “Are we done?” And I would say… “Almost.” Another thing. Anna wasn’t on time. She was early. Always. And you had better be ready. Anna kept me on my toes, and brought out the best in me. That was her magic.

Anna will still be Vogue’s global editorial director and Condé Nast’s chief content officer. So the party continues :)
