Douglas College Athletics has made the difficult decision to suspend the men’s soccer program for the remainder of the 2026-27 season, effective immediately. This includes all team-related activities, including practice, training sessions, and team meetings. This decision is a result of the incident that occurred after the match against Capilano University on Sunday, October 4.

We have a responsibility to uphold the standards of conduct expected of those representing Douglas College, as well as the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, associated personnel and all PACWEST member institutions. The conduct of those directly involved in the October 4 incident does not reflect the values and principles of Douglas College Athletics. Violence, intimidation and abuse directed at officials, opponents or spectators have no place within collegiate sport.

This decision was not made lightly, and we understand that it may impact the student experience for Douglas College student-athletes. The College will provide support services for those impacted. The College will not comment on individuals.

We appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to the Douglas College Royals and the Men’s Soccer program.

Thank you to everyone who came out, played hard and made the event such a good time.

Congrats to our two @innatthequay Athletes of the Week, Simon Dori of @douglasroyalsmsoc and Chiara Lucarelli of @douglasroyalswsc!

Simon scored the game winner against VIU on Saturday, while Chiara had a number of great chances against the Mariners. Congratulations to both our winners and to Inn at the Quay for fuelling our student-athletes! by @douglasroyals
