As we come to the close of October, the month dedicated to celebrating the Girl Child, I look back with a heart full of gratitude. 💜

Being part of the International Day of the Girl Child celebrations through @plan_tanzania and @norwayintz was more than an opportunity; it was a powerful reminder that girls deserve to be heard, represented, empowered and given spaces to lead.

I am deeply grateful for the support, trust and incredible opportunities that allowed me to be part of this meaningful celebration. Every moment, every conversation and every experience reminded me that young girls are not just the leaders of tomorrow; we are also change-makers of today.

As October ends, the mission continues. May we keep creating spaces where every girl can dream boldly, speak confidently and lead fearlessly.

Because when a girl is given a platform, she can become a voice for many.

Thank you, Plan International Tanzania and the Royal Norwegian Embassy, for believing in the power of the girl child. 💜

I had the honor of being part of the Girls Takeover Lunch at the Embassy of Norway in Tanzania onbehalf of @tawlatz

It was a truly powerful moment as @douryn_ollomy took over as the Ambassador of Norway for the day. A reminder that girls’ leadership is not something we are waiting for in the future - it is happening NOW.

Watching @douryn_ollomy lead with such confidence, grace and vision was unforgettable. She proved that when you give a girl a seat at the table, she doesn’t just sit - she LEADS.

This initiative was more than symbolic. It sent a clear message to every young girl in Tanzania and beyond: you belong in diplomacy, in leadership, in every room where the future is being shaped.

My sincere thanks to the Embassy of @norwayintz for walking the talk on gender equality and for creating real space for girls to lead, inspire and be heard.

Congratulations once again to @douryn_ollomy - you represented us all so well! by @douryn_ollomy

“I am standing here because someone believed in a young woman and gave her an opportunity.”

Doreen got a chance to experience leadership firsthand as she took on the role of Norwegian Ambassador for a Day @norwayintz @plannorge

Visiting the R/V Dr. Fridtjof Nansen research vessel, she discussed climate solutions and the importance of youth participation. She later joined women leaders at the Ambassador’s residence for a luncheon exploring their journeys into leadership, the challenges they faced and the role of mentorship in decision-making.

“I see myself as a real changemaker,” Doreen shared, speaking about her ambition to help other girls in her community find opportunities and pursue their goals.

Giving girls a chance to experience leadership today can open doors for them to take on greater roles in shaping tomorrow’s decisions.

It was really nice to finally meet Doreen, tears and all 🥹❤️ by @douryn_ollomy

Sometimes, we never know who is watching our journey and finding the courage to believe in their own. ❤️

It was a pleasure to visit the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania and meet Doreen alongside Amb. Tone Tinnes, the Ambassador of Norway to Tanzania. Through Plan International’s Girls Takeover initiative, Doreen had the opportunity to step into the Ambassador’s role for a day.

Although I could not attend on the day of the event, Ambassador Tinnes graciously accommodated my schedule to make sure Doreen and I could meet. I am truly grateful for that thoughtfulness and the warm welcome from the Embassy team.

Learning that Doreen sees me as her role model touched me deeply. It reminded me of the responsibility we carry through our actions, our choices and the time we make for those who look up to us.

Doreen, as you build your own story, know that your voice matters and your dreams deserve room to grow. Keep learning, asking questions and believing that you belong in spaces where decisions are made. I am cheering you on. 🤍

Thank you to Ambassador Tinnes, the Norwegian Embassy team and Plan International for giving girls the opportunity to experience leadership and see what is possible for their futures.

Her day began with a visit to the R/V Dr. Fridtjof Nansen research vessel, where Doreen spoke about climate solutions and inclusion of youth.

She later joined women leaders for a Girls’ Takeover Lunch under the theme “How Did We Get Here? Women’s Journeys in Leadership and Decision-Making.” The discussion focused on leadership journeys, challenges, mentorship, and the importance of women and girls being part of decision-making spaces.

Yesterday was a reminder that girls’ voices matter - and girls belong in leadership and decision-making spaces.

Change Her Forecast, Change Her Future!

As Girls Takeover cohort of 2026, we stand together in solidarity to advocate for the end of child marriage.

But the real question is: will you stand with us??
