We could always do with more quality second hand records. Get in touch if you're looking to trim down your collection or sell up completely. Good prices paid for good records. ✌️

We got Reggae for days but will always take more 😎 by @downbeatrecords.limerick

Love when ya come across random music memorabilia inside old records. These sticks are from @rteradio1 (RTE Radio 2) when they first launched Ireland's national youth radio station on May 31 1979. by @downbeatrecords.limerick

Delighted our new B+ print has now been framed and is up in the shop. This is the second print we have received from Brian Cross, a Limerick born photographer / DJ and all around music man.

Brian has been an inspiration to me for many years. Seeing someone from our hometown making such an impact on hip-hop culture through his photography gives me great pride.

This photo is of Madlib from the "Shades of Blue" album photography. It sits nicely in the room with our other B+ piece , the cover art for Dj Shadows Entroducing.

When I first opened the shop in 2024 it was by luck that Brian was visiting Limerick around the time of the launch and he was more than happy to support an independent record store in Limerick by gifting us that print.
I didn't realize at the time how much of an effect this would have on my customers.

When people see a familiar world renowned album artwork and then find out that the photographer is from this very city it fills them with a sense of pride. I've watched countless people light up when they are told that these culturally significant images were shot by a Limerick man.

Brian's generosity didn't stop there though as he also gifted us copies of the film "keeping in time" that he shot with Madlib / Cut Chemist/ JRocc and more, we even got a VHS copy. Neither of these nor the artworks are for sale though.

Brian also joined me last year for an interview in Limerick city where we spoke about his journey and caught some sneek peeks of some unseen documentary footage he shot in Kingston JA.

Thank you @bplease for all of your support ♥️☘️🍀 by @downbeatrecords.limerick

@disrupt_jahtari is coming to Limerick at the end of the month to play @pharmaciabar . @sibin_soundsystem have invited the chip tune dub pioneer all the way from Leipzig town in Germany where the JAHTARI 👾 studio is based.

Our first introduction to Disrupt came from the infectious overtly digital dancehall style riddims he created for artists like Soom T and Solo Banton. These riddims became big tunes" in dancehalls across the UK and the rest of the world, offering a fresh 8bit style aesthetic to digital dancehall.

Here are some experimental projects Disrupt has released over the last few years. All available at the shop on 12" vinyl.

Tickets for the upcoming show are available in-store at Downbeat or Online via Eventbrite.

Thanks to local techno producer @jon10.ie for stopping by with copies of his new 12" single. Last year Jon started to ask me about the process of pressing and distributing vinyl, here we are one year later with his first offering on his own label. Great to see Jon continue to go from strength to strength , we got full support for him.

Come check out the 12" at the shop ✌️ by @downbeatrecords.limerick

Dope slice of modern Brazilian music from Alberto Continentino (2025). Great mix of styles on here from traditional Brazilian songwriting to disco laden jams and some interesting production at times reminiscent of a Alan Hawkshaw. Recommended by @downbeatrecords.limerick

This one has been hanging around for a while, might just be me that's interested in Jamaican rudeboy fashions.
For those that don't know the Clarks shoes played a big part in Jamaican Soundsystem culture as a status symbol and style icon that was also mirrored in 90s hip-hop fashion.

This book by Al Fingers deep dives into the history with tonnes of colourful photography and lore. by @downbeatrecords.limerick

Was great to get a visit from @_segunakano._ from the mighty @yankarimusic . This absolute gem of afrobeat recorded here in Ireland and remixed by local producer @frawl_backwards has been a top seller for us and I know everyone is waiting to hear more from the band.

Somehow we still have a couple of copies left. Don't sleep! by @downbeatrecords.limerick

Hey gang. Most will know we don't usually go for these oldies collections but we were very generously gifted a collection recently and we have just finished cleaning them up.

In these two sections you will find dirt cheap albums (3LPs for €10). If your just starting out your collection or you have a sweet spot for 60s/70s pop and folky bits then come down and fill your boots!

Whatever is left over at the end of the month will be donated to a local youth cafe . by @downbeatrecords.limerick
