Planning a trip to New York City? 🗽 Save this before you go!

10 NYC travel tips I wish I knew sooner:

🚇 1. Never board an empty subway car. If one car is empty while the rest are packed, there’s usually a reason.
🌆 2. The best skyline views aren’t always in Manhattan. Brooklyn, New Jersey, and the Staten Island Ferry all deliver.
⛴️ 3. See the Statue of Liberty for FREE on the Staten Island Ferry.
🗺️ 4. Downtown vs. Uptown matters more than the train color! Always check the direction.
🏙️ 5. Don’t stay in Midtown the whole trip. Explore SoHo, the West Village, DUMBO, Williamsburg, Lower East Side, etc.
🍕 6. Some of the best food has no reservation. Pizza, bagels, delis, and neighborhood spots are often the best finds.
🚶 7. Walk one avenue over. The vibe can change fast from streets packed with tourists to quiet and peaceful.
🎭 8. Don’t pay full price for Broadway. Check TKTS, rush tickets, and digital lotteries (websites + apps!)
📍 9. Every neighborhood feels like a different city - Slow down and explore!
🚉 10. The wrong subway entrance can waste time as some stations don’t connect underground.

Which one surprised you most? New Yorkers, what should every visitor know? 👇

🚨 STOP spending $100+ on an Uber from JFK to Manhattan! 🗽

One of the easiest ways to save money on your NYC trip starts the second you land. Instead of spending $100+ and potentially sitting in traffic for over an hour, take the AirTrain + LIRR into Manhattan. 🚆

Here’s exactly how to do it 👇

✈️ Step 1: Follow the signs at JFK for the AirTrain and take it toward Jamaica Station.

🚆 Step 2: Get off at Jamaica, where you’ll transfer to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

📱 Step 3: Buy your LIRR ticket using the MTA TrainTime app. Make sure you have your ticket before boarding.

🏙️ Step 4: Take the LIRR into Manhattan. Depending on where you’re staying, you can take the train to Penn Station or Grand Central Madison.

💰 THE DIFFERENCE:

🚕 Uber/Taxi: $100+ and potentially over an hour in traffic
🚆 AirTrain + LIRR: around $15–$20 per person and often much faster

Plus, you don’t have to worry about sitting in NYC traffic after a long flight.

A few things to know:

🧳 The LIRR is easier with luggage than you might think.
📱 Download the MTA TrainTime app before your trip.
🚆 When heading back to JFK, take the LIRR to Jamaica and transfer to the AirTrain.
👥 If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, the savings can be HUGE. If you have a larger group, compare the total cost first.
⏰ During heavy traffic, the train can save you both time AND money.

We’d much rather put that extra $80+ toward pizza, drinks and actually experiencing NYC. 🍕🍸🗽

SAVE this for your next NYC trip & send it to someone flying into JFK!

Planning a Miami Beach trip? 🌴👀 Save this because there are a few things I’d definitely do differently!

Miami Beach is so much more than Ocean Drive, and knowing where to go and when to go can make a huge difference.

A few of my favorite Miami Beach tips:
☀️ Get to the beach before 10am for cooler temps, fewer crowds + better photos
🏖️ Skip the expensive beach chairs and bring your own setup
🌴 Walk beyond Ocean Drive to see a totally different side of Miami Beach
🍴 Don’t ONLY eat on Ocean Drive. There are so many other areas worth exploring
🚶‍♀️ Spend some time south of 5th for a more relaxed Miami Beach vibe
🌙 Check out Lincoln Road after dark for shopping + people watching
🌅 End the day at South Pointe for sunset + the pier

If you’re visiting Miami Beach for the first time, save this for your trip 📌

Which one would you have never thought of? 👀

🌴 7 things we wish we knew before visiting Miami Beach…

📍 1. South Beach isn’t all of Miami Beach
South Beach = walkable + nightlife. Mid-Beach = resorts + relaxed. North Beach = quieter + more local.

🚗 2. You probably don’t need a rental car
Especially in South Beach. Walk, use the FREE trolley or grab an Uber and skip the parking headache.

🚎 3. The Miami Beach trolley is FREE
It connects different areas of Miami Beach and can save you a ton on rideshares.

💸 4. Check your bill BEFORE tipping
Many restaurants may already include gratuity or a service charge. Always check before adding another tip.

🌴 5. Explore beyond Ocean Drive
It’s iconic, but don’t stop there. Check out Española Way, Lincoln Road, the Beachwalk and South Pointe.

🍹 6. Take advantage of happy hour
Miami Beach gets expensive FAST. Happy hours are one of the easiest ways to save on drinks + food.

🌅 7. Don’t skip South Pointe
Walk the park and pier, watch the cruise ships and catch sunset. One of our favorite FREE things to do.

📌 SAVE this for your Miami Beach trip!

What would you add? 👇

NYC in the fall, there’s really nothing like it 🥹

If you’re planning a trip this season, add these spots to your list for fall leaves, cozy coffee walks, skyline views, Halloween vibes, and a little escape from the city:

🍁 Central Park for fall colors
🌲 Fort Tryon Park for a quieter foliage walk
🏘️ West Village for brownstones + the perfect fall stroll
📸 Bethesda Terrace for one of the prettiest photo spots
🌅 Brooklyn Bridge Park for golden hour + skyline views
🎃 Greenwich Village for the best Halloween atmosphere
🍎 Hudson Valley for an easy fall day trip
☕️ Daily Provisions in the West Village for a Pumpkin Spice Latte, then wander the neighborhood

And honestly, half the fun is leaving some room in your plans to just wander and see where the day takes you. 🍂

Save this for your next NYC fall trip and send it to whoever you’d explore the city with 🗽

No NYC trip is complete without a stop at Rudy’s 🍺🌭

One of our favorite old-school dive bars in the city — cheap drinks, no frills, tons of character, and FREE hot dogs with your drinks.

It’s the kind of place we keep coming back to whenever we’re in NYC.

Just remember to bring cash 💵 — Rudy’s is cash only.

📍 Rudy’s Bar & Grill | Hell’s Kitchen, NYC

Who else has Rudy’s on their NYC bar list? 🐷🍻

Going to Osaka? 🇯🇵 Save this for your trip because there are a few things I wish I knew before visiting!

Osaka is such a fun contrast to Kyoto. It’s louder, more energetic, a little chaotic, and SO easy to love 😂

A few things I’d keep in mind:

✨ DON’T OVERPLAN: Osaka is a city where some of the best moments happen when you leave room to wander.

📍 EXPLORE BEYOND DOTONBORI: Definitely see it, but don’t make it your entire Osaka experience. There’s so much more to the city.

🚆 GROUP YOUR STOPS BY AREA: Osaka is spread out, so grouping your plans by neighborhood will save you a lot of backtracking.

🏯 SEE OSAKA CASTLE: Even if you’re not a huge castle person, the grounds are beautiful and worth adding to your itinerary.

🌆 SEE OSAKA FROM ABOVE: Add a rooftop or observation deck to your plans for a totally different view of the city.

🚆 TAKE THE TRAIN: Osaka’s train system makes getting around incredibly easy, so use it!

🎢 TAKE A DAY FOR UNIVERSAL STUDIOS: If you’re a theme park person, Universal Studios Japan deserves a full day.

🌃 GO OUT AT NIGHT: Osaka really comes alive after dark. Wander, grab a drink, explore the neighborhoods and see where the night takes you. One of our favorite nights in Osaka was spent at a tiny bar with only 3 or 4 bar stools!

🌿 LEAVE ROOM TO WANDER: Some of my favorite travel memories come from having nowhere specific to be.

🍜 EAT EVERYTHING: Because obviously. Osaka is known as Japan’s “Kitchen,” and you’re going to want to come hungry.

Save this for your Osaka trip 🇯🇵✨

We almost booked the wrong hotel in Kyoto. Here’s why that would’ve ruined our trip. 🏮

Everyone tells you WHAT to see in Kyoto. Almost nobody tells you WHERE to sleep.

And in this city? Location is everything.

We stayed in Gion, the geisha district, and it changed the entire trip. Waking up to quiet wooden streets before the tour groups arrived. Walking to Yasaka Shrine in 5 minutes. Stumbling into a 200-year-old teahouse just because it was on our street.

Here’s what we learned about where to stay in Kyoto:

🏮 Gion / Higashiyama — best for first-timers who want that old Kyoto postcard feeling. Walkable to temples, lantern-lit streets at night, but book early, it fills up fast

🏮 Kyoto Station area — best if you’re day-tripping to Osaka or Nara too. Trains everywhere, less charm, more convenience

🏮 Arashiyama — best if you want to wake up next to the bamboo forest and skip the morning tour buses entirely

🏮 Downtown (Kawaramachi/Shijo) — best for food lovers, nightlife, and shopping between temple visits

The mistake most people make? Booking near the station for “convenience” and missing the soul of the city completely.

Where you stay in Kyoto isn’t just logistics. It’s the difference between visiting a city and actually living in it for a few days.

Which area would YOU pick? Comment below 👇

Kyoto is one of those places I could visit over and over again 🇯🇵🤍 These are some of the things I’d tell anyone visiting for the first time:

✨ Don’t overplan. Pick the 3-4 things you REALLY want to see or do, then add more if you have time. You’ll almost always spend longer at each place than you expect.

⏰ Beat the crowds. Get an early start for the most popular spots. You can still expect crowds, but it can make such a difference in your experience.

🌲 Go north. Kyoto isn’t just temples and busy streets. Areas like Ohara and Takao offer beautiful mountain scenery, greenery and a much quieter side of Kyoto.

📍 Group your days by area. Kyoto is bigger than it looks, so plan your sightseeing around neighborhoods instead of zigzagging across the city all day.

🧳 Ditch the luggage. If you’re moving hotels or arriving before check-in, take advantage of luggage delivery or storage. Your feet will thank you!

🍜 Eat EVERYTHING. Kyoto’s food scene is incredible, from traditional Kyoto cuisine and kaiseki to ramen, sushi, soba, matcha and all the little restaurants you’ll stumble upon along the way.

🌿 Leave time to wander. Some of my favorite Kyoto moments have come from having nowhere to be and just exploring.

🌙 See Gion at night. It’s absolutely magical after dark. Just remember that Gion is a real neighborhood where people live and work. Never chase, follow, touch or photograph geisha/maiko without permission, and always respect posted photography restrictions.

Kyoto is one of those places where I think less is more. Don’t rush from one famous spot to the next. Give yourself time to actually experience the city. 🤍

📌 Save this for your Kyoto trip and send it to your travel buddy!
