🍽️ Highlights from the 37th Annual Taste of Sumter. We’ll see ya next year! Dang, that was good! by @downtownamericus
We’re bringing our Taste of Sumter restaurant series to an end by bringing it on home with some good Southern home cooking at Gladys’ Kitchen. 🍗 We loaded up our plates with fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, green beans and black-eyed peas — and saved room for the signature dessert: Gladys’ famous butter roll. 🤤 Well actually… I ate the dessert first. And according to Gladys’ Kitchen, you better be at Taste of Sumter TONIGHT. Don’t say they didn’t tell you. 😂 🍽️ 37th annual Taste of Sumter 🗓️ TONIGHT — Thursday, September 24 ⏰ 6:00–9:00 PM 📍 Jackson St. in Downtown Americus by @downtownamericus
Today we stopped by Roman Oven Pizzeria, where the pizza is served buffet-style and the personality is served literally everywhere. 🍕🎨 We talked to Hannah, who showed us some of her favorite things around Roman Oven: her favorite piece of artwork, her favorite table (they’re all customized), and most importantly, her favorite pizza — the cheeseburger pizza. 🤤 My personal favorite? The salad bar. 🥗 Roman Oven is known for its eclectic, artsy vibe, and there really isn’t a corner of the restaurant that’s been left untouched. Paint, custom artwork, quirky collections, string lights — there’s always something to look at while you grab another slice. We hope you’ll join us THIS THURSDAY at the 🍽️ 37th annual Taste of Sumter 🗓️ Thursday, September 24, 2026 ⏰ 6:00–9:00 PM 📍 Jackson St. in Downtown Americus by @downtownamericus

Next we stopped by Buffalo Cafe in Plains, Georgia, owned and operated by Friends of Jimmy Carter. We tried the Southern Burger, chicken parm sandwich, mac & cheese, and of course, you can’t visit Plains without finishing things off with their famous peanut butter ice cream, located a few doors down from the cafe at Bobby Salter’s Plain Peanuts & General Store. 🥜🍦 And you’ll definitely want to stay tuned to the end of this video for dessert… because a very special guest stepped in to serve my ice cream. 👀 We hope you’ll join us at the 🍽️ 37th annual Taste of Sumter 🗓️ Thursday, September 24, 2026 ⏰ 6:00–9:00 PM 📍 Jackson St. in Downtown Americus by @downtownamericus

Today we sat down with Rodrigo, the manager of The 1800 Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Americus. We tasted the quesabirrias: three soft corn tortillas filled with tender braised beef and cheese. Served with a side of cilantro, diced onions, spicy salsa and a flavorful consome soup for dipping.
