Intimate care doesn’t have to begin with a problem.

It can simply be part of how we care for ourselves — like the rest of our skin.

A small, sensory ritual.
For comfort. For softness. For you. by @downundawoman

Things women do that make absolutely no sense… until you ask another woman. 😂

Every one of these is mine.

Yes, I really worried about my credit-card statement while going in for emergency cardiac surgery.
Yes, there was an unfortunate sparkly-cream incident before the gynaecologist. ✨
And yes, apparently I believe a rogue chin hair requires the same level of preparedness as a natural disaster.
What’s the completely ridiculous thing YOU have done, worried about or tried to hide?

A conversation with a clever, creative 22-year-old today.

We got talking about seeds, magnificent trees, and the extraordinary fact that we all began from something so small.

“It’s a miracle,” she said.

And it is.

40 years between us, and exactly the same sense of wonder.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that catch our attention.

A pattern in the sand. A moment of stillness. Something we might otherwise walk straight past.

At we believe the little things matter. Including the little ways we care for ourselves.

Sometimes the best ideas come when you’re not looking for them.
A little space to think. A little room for possibilities.

In the late 1800s, women wrote thousands of letters to a woman they had never met.

Her name was Lydia Pinkham.

She sold a herbal tonic for women’s health. But something else happened along the way.

Women began writing to her about the things they struggled to discuss openly.

Painful periods. Infertility. Menopause. Intimate worries.

Her remedies were far from modern medicine. But she understood something important.

Women wanted to talk. They just needed someone who would listen.

Nearly 150 years later, perhaps that hasn’t changed as much as we’d like to think.

Are there still things women find difficult to talk about?

We become more capable.
More experienced.
More certain about so many things.

And yet some of the insecurities we thought we’d outgrow quietly come along for the ride.

Body image doesn’t necessarily disappear with age. Research suggests it can remain surprisingly persistent through midlife and beyond.

Odd, isn’t it?
