This project came to life when I ran into a former coworker 6 years later. Both of us were on new professional journeys, but the arts became the bridge that got us talking. Several meetings later, and we were filming.

BEYOND THE BEAT tells the story of YASA, a Haitian-born artist who relocated to the U.S. at 15 as an earthquake refugee. His journey led to a transformative moment in Miami that ignited his passion for electronic music. Through every track, YASA blends the rhythms of his heritage with the influences he’s gathered, creating a sound that’s raw, emotional, and deeply personal. This is his story—where music becomes more than just sound.

Honestly, putting in the time and resources without knowing the return felt uncertain but my priorities were clear. The passion and the story were worth it. Big thank you to the whole crew for believing in this with me and absolutely killing their parts.

the SHAPE of PEACE

What does peace look like when you have to choose it daily?

Rena: “This is a little of what choosing peace looks like for me, and why I care so deeply about creating spaces where other women can feel it too.✨”

OT: “Getting to explore that question alongside Rena and this team made it something special. Life looks different for everyone, and lately our day to day has become less predictable. Peace takes a different shape every minute. Keep moving the pieces.”

Big thank you to everyone who came together to make this happen!

Surround yourself with people who show up for the work. Everything else; the growth, the momentum, the joy follows on its own 🤷🏾‍♂️. Have fun with it because I personally believe that’s the whole point. by @dp_ot

Grateful for the opportunity to help bring the story of “Connected Soles” to life through this conversation. Hearing the reflections of those involved made it even clearer how much art, community, and purpose shaped this moment; and life as a whole. Catch the full story @form2fashion by @dp_ot

Same setup, same style I’ve shot a hundred times. But every face is new, every story is different, and that’s what keeps it fun! Working with the space, lighting for the story, enhancing with grading. Repeat. Love it here. by @dp_ot
