There have not been many times in my life when I’ve struggled to find words that adequately express my feelings. But for the past year, I’ve wrestled with your loss Daryle. For a while it was as if the sun wore shades, never shining quite as bright as normal. Many cherished memories, even the humorous ones, only amplified the hollowness that I felt. I swear I cried enough tears to fill Hoover Dam. Your unique blend of attributes brought joy, laughter, comfort, kindness, order, calmness and a sense of closeness to those around you… family, friends, colleagues, and community. For someone who never sought attention, you took up a lot of space in peoples lives. Thank you for giving us all you had to give right to the very end. Six years, sometimes feels like 6 months sometimes like 6 weeks and sometimes just 6 days. No matter the time Dad, you are always with me. You were so brilliant; intelligent, creative, a friend to so many, and oohhh yes, the clown prince of the family! I can’t tell you how often your lessons and especially your sayings, infused with your wisdom, come to my mind and heart. I have passed many of them on to my boys. I didn’t fully know until you were gone how deeply embedded you are in my mind, heart and soul. Your shoes are too big to fill, but I promise I’m doing my best to be the man that you were.
