🌸 Oncologist Recommends: Safer Perfumes For Women (No Promotions)

Not all perfumes are created equal.

Some formulations may contain ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin or trigger reactions in certain individuals.

When choosing a safer perfume, look for:
✔️ Transparent ingredient information where available
✔️ Reputable brands with quality standards
✔️ Skin-friendly formulations if you have sensitive skin
✔️ Moderate fragrance strength for everyday use

Choosing a safer fragrance isn’t about giving up perfume—it’s about making informed choices that work for your skin and lifestyle.

No promotions. No paid partnerships.
Just ingredient-based recommendations to help you choose more wisely.

Because feeling good should never come at the expense of your skin.

💄 Oncologist Recommends: Safe Lipsticks (No Promotions)

Your lipstick goes on your lips — and small amounts can be accidentally ingested throughout the day.

Not all lip products are created equal.

Some may contain:
⚠️ Unnecessary fragrances
⚠️ Irritating ingredients
⚠️ Poor-quality pigments or contaminants

💋 A better lipstick choice:
✔️ Trusted brands with quality testing
✔️ Clearly listed ingredients
✔️ Suitable for sensitive lips
✔️ Free from unnecessary additives

Especially important if you wear lipstick daily or have sensitive skin.

No promotions. No paid partnerships.
Just ingredient awareness and safer choices for everyday beauty.

Because what you apply on your body matters.

🔟 Room fresheners 🌸

Some of these have been linked in studies to chemicals like formaldehyde, PFAS, benzene, naphthalene, or other carcinogen-associated compounds. Not everything causes cancer instantly — but repeated exposure matters.

Nearly 4 in 10 cancers could be prevented. Only 5 to 10 in 100 are passed down in families.

You don’t need all 9 today. Start with one.

1. No tobacco in any form, and no supari
2. Less alcohol. None is best
3. Waist under 90 cm for men, 80 cm for women
4. Move 30 minutes a day
5. Sleep 7 to 9 hours
6. More fibre: whole grains, dal, sabzi, fruit
7. Mouth, breast and cervix checks from 30
8. Breast, ovary or colon cancer in close family? Ask your doctor about a gene test
9. HPV vaccine for girls 9–14 (free at 14 in government centres). Hepatitis B for every baby (free in the baby vaccine schedule)

Got a lump, a mouth sore that won’t heal, or unusual bleeding? Don’t wait for a screening. See a doctor now.

Which one are you starting with? Tell me in the comments 👇

🌾 ONCOLOGIST EXPLAINS: THE IMPORTANCE OF BIOFORTIFICATION

Good to see voices like Varun Dhawan bringing attention to biofortification.

In my practice, I often see people dealing with fatigue and frequent illness — while causes can be many, micronutrient deficiencies like iron and zinc are common contributors.

Biofortified staples (rice, wheat) are bred to have more of these nutrients naturally. It’s not a substitute for medical advice or treatment, but as part of a balanced diet, it’s a practical way to help bridge nutrition gaps at scale.

Small change in our thali, meaningful impact for India. Better Nutrition is also the brand that PV Sindhu has invested in to back this mission.

ONCOLOGIST RATES:VEG PROTEIN SOURCES(WORST TO BEST)

Think dal chawal covers your protein? Do the maths.

One katori of dal gives you 6 to 9 g of protein. Most adults need around 50 g a day. That’s about 7 katoris. Every single day.

So I ranked 8 everyday vegetarian protein sources, lowest to best:
Milk, curd, dal-rice, groundnuts, paneer, hung curd, tofu, soya chunks.

Three things most people miss:

1. Soya chunks have about 50 g of protein per 100 g dry. The most protein for your money. And since I’m asked this every week: normal amounts of soy don’t raise breast cancer risk.

2. Strain your curd overnight and the same bowl holds 2 to 3 times the protein.

3. Not all paneer is paneer. “Analogue paneer” uses vegetable oil and starch instead of milk, and it’s common when you eat out.

You don’t need one perfect food. Stack two or three of these every day.

Comment ‘PROTEIN’ and I’ll send you the full list, with the protein in each and a simple home check for fake paneer.

Kidney disease? Talk to your doctor before you increase your protein.

I’m a cancer surgeon. If you already eat seeds, or you’re planning to start, you’re probably eating them wrong.

🥣 Soak first: chia, halim
🥣 Grind first: flax, sesame, poppy
🥣 Just eat them: pumpkin, sunflower

🌱 Whole flaxseeds often pass straight through you. Grind them.
🌱 Chia soaks up about 12 times its weight in water, so soak it first.
🌱 Halim has some iron. A squeeze of lemon helps your body absorb it.
🌱 A small handful of pumpkin seeds gives about a third of your day’s magnesium.

You don’t need all 7. Pick 1 or 2 and switch through the week. All 7 together add 400–500 calories.

Send this to the one who swallows flax seeds whole.

💅 **ONCOLOGIST RATES: NAIL TREATMENTS — WORST TO BEST**

Gel manicures, acrylic nails, nail extensions, regular nail polish and more — but how do they compare when it comes to nail health and ingredient safety?

Nail treatments can vary in their chemical ingredients, application methods and potential effects on your natural nails and surrounding skin. Frequent use, improper removal and repeated exposure to certain products may contribute to nail damage, irritation or allergic reactions.

The important takeaway? A treatment being popular doesn’t automatically make it harmless. Pay attention to product ingredients, avoid applying products to damaged or irritated skin, and give your natural nails time to recover when needed. The focus is on making informed choices, not creating unnecessary fear around beauty products.

💅 Oncologist Recommends: Safe Nail Polishes (No Promotions)

Nail polish is something many people use regularly — but not all formulas are created equally.

Some nail products may contain:
⚠️ Harsh chemicals
⚠️ Strong fragrances
⚠️ Ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin

When choosing nail polish, look for:
✔️ Better ingredient transparency
✔️ Trusted certifications
✔️ “Free-from” formulations where possible
✔️ Products suitable for your personal needs

💅 Beauty doesn’t have to mean compromising on awareness.

No promotions. No paid partnerships.
Just ingredient education and smarter choices.

Because what you apply matters — even on your nails.

I’m a cancer surgeon. I drink coffee every day. But there’s 1 way I’ll never drink it: straight off the stove.
Drinks above 65°C probably raise food-pipe cancer risk. Wait 10 minutes before you sip.
Big studies link coffee to a healthier liver, less diabetes, lower Parkinson’s risk, fewer heart and stroke deaths, and lower risk of liver and endometrial cancer. A link, not proof.
Already drink it? 2 to 3 small cups a day, little or no sugar, none after 2 pm. Pregnant? Max 1 to 2 small cups.
Send this to someone who drinks it straight off the stove.

🧂 ONCOLOGIST RATES: TYPES OF SALT — WORST TO BEST

Pink salt costs about 3 times more than regular salt. It came last on my list.

The winner? Watch the entire video to find out.

Here’s why. Every salt in this video is mostly the same sodium. The real difference is iodine. Your thyroid needs it, a baby’s brain needs it to grow normally, and too little is linked to a type of thyroid cancer. Pink salt and sendha namak usually have none, and many sea salts don’t either.

Sendha is fine on fasting days. Black salt is great on chaat and raita, and that eggy taste is sulfur. Just don’t make either one your everyday salt.

Whichever salt you use, keep it under a teaspoon a day, all meals together.

Comment SALT and I’ll send you my guide to picking a better salt at the shop.

Send this to whoever does the shopping at home.

🧴 ONCOLOGIST RATES: “MAKEUP REMOVAL METHODS” — WORST TO BEST

If you’ve followed my safe makeup series, you know I spend a lot of time on what goes into your makeup. Labels, parabens, phthalates, heavy metals.

This video is the other half: how you take it off.

Picking a safer lipstick or kajal is step one. But if it stays on your skin all night, or you scrub it off with a wipe, your skin still pays for it.

So here are the common ways people remove makeup, rated worst to best, from sleeping in it to the one I’d recommend for every night.

Just to be clear: this one isn’t about cancer, and there’s nothing to be scared of. It’s about looking after your skin with the same care you put into choosing what goes on it.

Comment REMOVE and I’ll send you the one-page guide, with the best method in 3 simple steps.

Save this for tonight, and send it to a friend who wears makeup every day.
