Yep, those face mites are called Demodex, and they live in hair follicles and oil glands. So they can be found all over the face, eyebrows and eyelashes. Overpopulation of these microscopic mites on your eyelids and eyelashes will cause blepharitis. If you're having inflammation of your eyelids like redness, irritation, puffiness, itching, discharge, lots of eye "crusties"; talk to your eye doctor about the ways you can minimize the inflammation and keep the population of these mites at a normal rate.

Think about all the things you can do with good vision: being able to drive, watch your kids grow up, cut veggies with a knife properly. Let's change these stats!! Your retina would beg to differ!

Seeing 20/20 doesn’t always mean your eyes are healthy. In fact, many eye diseases can be present and only show clinical signs before you have any changes to your vision (IF you even have any symptoms!). Many people don’t even have any visual changes or symptoms!
That’s why annual comprehensive eye exams are important!
If you haven’t seen your eye doctor yet this year, this is your reminder to schedule that appointment!

As an optometrist that constantly checks meibomian gland health and is fishing for foreign bodies quite frequently, @meivertor has made eyelid eversion so fast, easy, and most importantly, more comfortable for patients. If you haven’t checked out Meivertor as an in office clinical tool, especially if you treat Dry eyes and Meibomian Gland Disease, you’re missing out! I cannot recommend Meivertor enough!

PSA: if you’ve been prescribed Prednisolone acetate to manage inflammation in your eye, whether it be post surgical or for an inflammatory condition, please check to ensure your bottle of eye drops is not affected by the latest @fda recall. The recall is due to possible contamination with a foreign substance. Check with your eye care provider or pharmacist to see if your bottle is affected before discontinuing use.
