That gymnastics to healthcare pipeline is alive and well🤝🤸🏼‍♀️👩🏼‍⚕️

Yes, all this to understand the frustration of being injured, watching your teammates train, not being able to do the sport you love, and how to safely come back to gymnastics after an injury🤍

Having a PT who knows & understands gymnastics is SO important!🙌

✨KT taping for Achilles pain & Sever’s✨

One of the questions I get all the time is, “Does KT tape actually work?”

The answer is... sometimes!

For athletes (especially in barefoot sports) with Achilles pain or Severs, it can help make running, jumping, and practice feel less painful. While it isn’t changing the tendon or growth plate itself, the sensory input from the tape can help decrease pain sensitivity, making activities feel a bit better for some athletes.

Will it fix the problem? Nope.

But if it helps you move with less pain while managing training load and building strength/mobility it’s a great tool to use. 🙌

Stiff upper back after a long day on the clock?🥴

Got a shoulder that can’t be trusted overhead?🙄

It’s likely a stability and control issue…

Give these a whirl and don’t let the cable ones fool you🥵

TKEs don’t have to be boring 👀

There are tons of ways to vary, progress, and load them depending on what you’re trying to target.

Same exercise, lots of different ways to challenge it.

Save this for your next leg day & send it to someone who needs some TKE inspo🤝

Shins not a fan of your runs? 🥲

they’re probably not fragile — they’re undertrained. icing them won’t change that.

this routine strengthens the muscles that actually take the load: gastroc, soleus + tibialis anterior 💪

save this for your next run day 🏃‍♀️

✨KT Taping technique for Plantar Fasciitis✨

As a physical therapist, this is one of my go-to taping techniques for plantar fasciitis or plantar/heel pain.

Although taping isn’t a complete fix for stubborn issues like planar fasciitis, it can be a real game changer to help manage symptoms while you go through a rehab plan to address the root causes🙌

Stretching your hip flexors isn’t helping?🥲

They’re probably not tight, they’re weak… And stretching a weak muscle doesn’t fit it!

This 5-exercise routine actually strengthens them!

OPEN ME🚨

Knee valgus isn’t always a problem, but poor control in this position can contribute to issues at the knee, hip, and ankle.

As a physical therapist, one progression I like is using a band to pull the knee INTO valgus, giving you an external cue to push against. The goal is to keep your knee in line with your toes, helping strengthen the hip, improve knee control and increase ankle stability before progressing to more dynamic movements like running and jumping.

The towel under the foot is optional, but can help limit overpronation initially so you can focus on the knee. As control improves, ditch the towel, or even add resistance at the ankle to challenge control of knee valgus + pronation together.

Control and stability start at the hip🙌

Hip internal rotation might be the most undertrained movement at the hip. everyone trains external rotation and glutes, but IR is what lets you actually control the femur — huge for running, cutting, and single-leg stability.

You can use a cable machine or bands for these depending on what equipment you have access to!

Been training a lot & a calf stretch just isn’t cutting it?🫠

Dry needling targets stubborn muscle tension and gives your nervous system a reset - it might be the game plan your calf needs!
