Longevity has a face. And very often, the skin and hair reveal the story before we look deeper.

At the inaugural India Longevity Summit in Mumbai, I was invited to represent the voice of dermatology in a room shaping the conversation around health, wellness and longevity.

For over two decades, my work has been centred on skin and hair—not simply from the perspective of aesthetics, but as living, changing markers of what is happening within the body.

Because skin is not decoration.
Hair is not merely cosmetic.
And ageing is not just about wrinkles.

Changes in skin quality, pigmentation, inflammation, hair density and regenerative capacity can reflect the complex biology of how we age.

This is where I believe the next chapter of dermatology begins.

At the intersection of dermatology, regenerative medicine and longevity.

We are moving beyond simply correcting the visible signs of ageing. The future is about understanding the biology behind them—cellular function, inflammation, oxidative stress, repair and regeneration—and using those insights to rethink how we approach skin and hair health over a lifetime.

Skin and hair can be powerful windows into ageing. And regenerative dermatology gives us an opportunity to move from correction towards preservation, restoration and healthier ageing.

For dermatology, that is an important shift:

From anti-ageing to healthy ageing.
From treating what we see to understanding why we see it.
From aesthetics alone to longevity.

Being invited to bring this perspective to the first India Longevity Summit was an important moment—not just for me, but for a field that deserves a much bigger place in the longevity conversation.

Because longevity should never be measured only by how long we live.

It should be measured by how well we continue to function, regenerate and thrive.

And our skin and hair may have far more to tell us about that journey than we once imagined.

From attending EADV as a dermatology trainee in London to returning years later as an invited speaker in Vienna, this stage holds a very special place in my journey. ✨

EADV is one of Europe’s largest dermatology congresses, bringing together more than 20,000 dermatologists from across the world. To stand on that stage and share my clinical experience with such a global audience was both an honour and a deeply meaningful moment.

During my training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College London, our professors, Prof Martin Black, Prof Jonathan Barker and Dr Christopher Griffith, would bring us to EADV. As editors of Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology, a bible for dermatologists, they shaped much of how I looked at the field.

Those early experiences opened my eyes to the breadth of dermatology and the value of learning from colleagues across the world.

This year, I had the privilege of speaking on superficial peels for acne and melasma, alongside the stellar Dr Marina Landau from Israel and Dr Fotini Bageorgou from Greece, both distinguished leaders and past presidents of the International Peeling Society.

I loved sharing practical pearls from my experience in India, particularly around using superficial peels for acne and pigmentation. Because the real value of scientific knowledge lies in understanding the nuances that allow us to translate it into better patient care.

Standing at a congress I once attended as a student, now contributing my own clinical experience, felt incredibly special.

Grateful to my teachers who shaped my journey, my colleagues who continue to challenge and inspire me, and my patients who teach me something new every day. 💛

A little festive skin prep can save you from dealing with an unexpected breakout, irritation or dryness right before the event. ✨

If you're trying new makeup, patch-test it beforehand instead of making the event day your first trial.

Keep your skincare routine simple. This is not the time to introduce strong actives, aggressive exfoliation or multiple new products.

Moisturise well, keep your lips hydrated, and make sure your makeup brushes and tools are clean.

After the celebration, remove your makeup gently and cleanse without scrubbing your skin. And if a breakout appears, resist the urge to pick at it.

Most importantly, don't underestimate sleep. Late nights, stress and disrupted routines can show up on your skin too.

You don't need a complicated routine for festive skin. Consistency and a little planning go a long way. ✨

Longevity is more than living longer. It is about living healthier for longer—and our skin, the body’s largest organ, is part of that story.

At the Longevity Revolution, I spoke about regenerative aesthetics and emerging molecules being studied for hyperpigmentation. Sharing ideas with some of India’s leading longevity doctors reminded me how much we can learn when medicine moves beyond specialty silos.

For anyone thinking about longevity, my three starting points are simple:

1. Eat for long-term health. Build everyday Indian meals around a variety of vegetables, fruit, dals or other protein sources, and whole grains. Be mindful of heavily processed foods.
2. Move and maintain strength. Walk regularly and make time for strength-building activity. Healthy ageing depends on what your body can do, not only how it looks.
3. Protect your skin every day. Seek shade, use protective clothing and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed skin. Prevention is part of regenerative care.

New treatments are exciting, but the foundations of health deserve just as much attention. Grateful to my colleagues for an inspiring exchange of ideas.

India’s injectable aesthetics market is entering its next chapter.

I was delighted to be part of the Spectra launch in Mumbai, bringing together some of the country’s leading dermatologists to discuss the evolving landscape of aesthetic medicine.

I had the opportunity to speak about India’s injectable landscape, from dermal fillers to skin boosters, and more importantly, where this market is headed over the next decade.

The conversation went beyond what is popular today.

We looked at:

• How patient expectations around injectables are evolving
• The shift from correction towards skin quality and prevention
• The growing role of skin boosters alongside traditional fillers
• How technology and product innovation are shaping treatment possibilities
• What the next 10 years could look like for injectable aesthetics in India

As part of the launch of MesoHyal, the next generation of hyaluronic acid fillers for India, it was exciting to discuss not just where the market stands today, but the opportunities and innovations that could shape its future.

The most exciting part of being in this space is that aesthetic medicine is constantly evolving.

And the next decade is going to be about much more than adding volume.

It will be about precision, skin quality, natural-looking outcomes and increasingly personalised treatment approaches.

Grateful to have been part of this conversation with some of the finest minds in Indian dermatology.

I went in as a jury member at #EBA26 @elleindia I came out genuinely excited about how far Indian beauty has come.

I was invited to be a jury member for the ELLE Beauty Awards, where I had the opportunity to evaluate products across categories including makeup, cleansers, moisturisers, skincare, nutraceuticals and beauty gadgets.

And yes, that meant a lot of testing, trying, comparing and debating before deciding which brands stood out in each category.

But what excited me the most wasn't just the products themselves but it was seeing the level of innovation coming from Indian brands.

For the longest time, when we spoke about beauty innovation, we naturally looked towards Western and international brands.

This experience made me realise how much that narrative is changing.

Indian brands are experimenting with formulations, textures, technology, delivery systems and consumer experiences in really interesting ways.

And as a dermatologist and someone who has been closely watching the beauty industry evolve, it was genuinely refreshing to see.

The Indian beauty ecosystem isn't just catching up anymore.

It is creating, innovating and finding its own voice.

Being on the other side of the table, testing products and having to make those final choices, gave me a completely different perspective on the work that goes into building a beauty brand.

Grateful to ELLE for bringing me into the conversation. And even more excited to see where Indian beauty goes from here. ❤️

REGEN was more than a conference for me. It was the beginning of a change I have wanted to see in Indian aesthetic medicine for a long time.

We are still trailing behind other nations and unless change happens in the mindset and skill development, we won’t catch up.

At India’s first REGEN Congress, we brought regenerative aesthetics, longevity and Regenerative clinical practice into one conversation. Seeing medical doctors with special interest in retentive and aesthetic medicine learn together, challenge ideas and share their experience made me feel that something had shifted.

Medicine has often grown in silos. We become experts in our own areas, but the questions our patients bring us rarely fit neatly within one specialty. If we want to practise aesthetic and regenerative medicine well, our outlook has to change.
We need to be curious about what colleagues in other fields know, generous with what we have learned, and rigorous enough to question even the treatments we are excited about.

That spirit was what made REGEN revolutionary for me. Doctors came not only to hear about new possibilities, but to examine the science, discuss the limits of the evidence and think together about how to improve patient care.

I am proud that we created a space for that conversation in India. My hope is that the collaboration continues long after the congress: across medical specialties, across clinics and across borders. We will grow further when we grow together.

Thank you to Dr Sandeep and Dr Ankur for spearheading this. And to our faculty and delegates .. we were 540 of us that started this change in India.

Thank you to every faculty member, delegate and team member who helped make the first REGEN Congress possible. This is only the beginning.

Planning a skin treatment just before a festive event? Don’t forget to plan for the recovery too. ✨

Some treatments can temporarily cause redness, swelling, sensitivity, dryness or peeling. The amount of downtime can vary depending on the procedure, your skin, the intensity of treatment and how your skin responds.

That’s why getting something done a day or two before an important celebration may not always be ideal. You may need enough time for the initial reaction to settle and for your skin to recover.

Before booking a last-minute treatment, ask your dermatologist:

• What can I expect immediately after the treatment?
• How much downtime should I plan for?
• When can I safely apply makeup?
• Do I need to avoid sun, heat or certain skincare products?
• How far in advance should I schedule it before my event?

And remember, more intensive doesn't automatically mean better or faster. The right treatment and timing depend on your individual skin and what you're trying to address.

If you have a festive event coming up, plan your treatment with enough buffer rather than experimenting at the last minute. Your skin needs time to recover too. ✨
