Today in class, a student asked me, “how do you manage to be involved in so much, and like, actually make change?” To start my more long winded response about time management, still navigating challenges, learning data skills, and relationship building, I started my response with, “respectfully, I’m Him.” One thing I learned from therapy and my own mental health journey, was that when people would attempt to harm me, they would make me feel small, as if I didn’t matter. As someone who stands 6’5, you can imagine what that does to you - when people look down on you, even when they still have to physically look up. As I celebrate my 32nd birthday going into the weekend (May 23rd was the day y’all!), let this serve as a reminder to you to, respectfully, talk your shit. Own your dopeness. Someone benefits when you make yourself small and dim your light. Don’t let them. We 32 now. We grown Af by @dr.dct3

**(Late) Birthday Post**I’ve now been 35 for a week, and I’ve had some time to reflect. Been thinking a lot about the art that I connect with and the reasons why. And for me, there is something spiritual that I’ve felt about that song ‘wacced out murals’ by Kendrick ever since it dropped. It captured so much for me. There is something about being celebrated on one hand, and being targeted for that same reason. That has been my time in the academy, and it gave me words to describe what I’m feeling. Now officially being in my mid 30s, I’ve experienced so much. I’ve gone through every type of human emotion. I’ve been on the frontlines doing work, behind the scenes, and everything in between. I’ve grown in so many ways, prioritized my health, and I fell back in love with the process, not just the results. My village has kept me strong, grounded, and clear. 34 was spent laying a foundation and returning to the process. I had to learn to stop saying ‘yes’ so much. I had to learn that everyone really doesn’t value relationships. I also had to learn to hold myself accountable when I make mistakes. Now I know more of the game. I’ve learned so much, and it’s time to keep leveling up. Like that boy Dot saidGo and up your rank ⬆️⬆️⬆️We 35 now. Grown af by @dr.dct3

On April 24th,I had the privilege to present the findings of the 2026 People’s Budget to the Budget and Finance Committee with @blmlosangeles. After 6 years and 35,000 surveys, our findings are clear - invest in resources for our people, and divest in the departments, tools, and places that harm them. If you want to get involved, go to LA City Council Meetings, submit public comments online, and raise your voice. We don’t have to accept a city budget that doesn’t prioritize us.
