This summer I have been rescuing orchids. Every orchid I have ever had has always just bloomed and then died immediately. So I have been trying to buy the almost dead ones in bulk from all the different places that sold them, still way over priced for buying what looks like a dead plant. Regardless, I tool them home, carefully cut them free of the little plastic pot they’re grown in, and then soak them in a bucket with room temp coolish water until the sunk to the bottom, then I’d pick away all of that peat they’re always in (that’s what kills them) and give the roots stem and remaining leaves a gentle rinse, and place them in a large mouth mason. Gently tuck their roots into the water, you’ll know the roots that want the sun and not water. I was pretty sure I was now killing the orchid by drowning it, but it seemed very happy. I spritz the leaves and blooms everyday, and this is my second success 🙂 almost a 12 full blooms. I have renamed myself ‘orchid whisperer’ and if you would like to donate any orchids, or send yours over for some emergency care, just dm me. I have 5 more that are doing well, but still a bit aways from bloom 🙂🌷 #orchid #orchidrescue #hydroponicorchids #orchidwhisperer by @dr.exgirlfriend
