Let’s talk … by @dr.joblack

A concept from Dr Jo Black, bought to life by Director & BAFTA winner Emma Lazenby.

We follow three children living with a parent with mental ill health share their story and their ways to cope.

This film was commissioned by Devon Partnership Trust to talk to children and adults about the realities of living with a parent with mental ill health. Following the stories of Anya (age 9), Macauley (age 11) and Erin (age 12) these positive and incredible children share their story and advice.

Directed by BAFTA winner Emma Lazenby, produced by ForMed Films CIC in collaboration with Dr Joanne Black and Devon Partnership Trust.

Please reach out to your midwife, obstetrician, health visitor or GP.

If you are worried and live in an area with specialist perinatal
Mental health teams please ask your health care provider for a referral.

Every week I witness stories of recovery, of strong relationships, of joyful
Connections between mum and baby restored, of women embracing life and motherhood when in their dark times they could never imagined that was possible.

Dr Jo Black, Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Faculty said:

“We are delighted to be publishing this report today as it offers through its evidence and advice an excellent opportunity to improve further access to high quality perinatal mental healthcare when needed.

“As we come through the pandemic, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that not only is the progress in perinatal mental healthcare services maintained, but it is also enhanced further. This report provides a strong foundation in support of that objective”
