From pain ➝ power.
Meeting my client Tess where she runs so she can run pain-free again.
This is physical therapy beyond the clinic. 🏃‍♀️🧠

She didn’t need more rest.
She needed answers.

Today’s office: the track

Huge shout out to talented @sh4untan @shaunfilms @kino.nyc for shooting and editing this video!
Thank you @t.essther for your help as well.

First ever 13 miles in the books.
Been struggling with pain in both knees for over a year, broke my big toe a month ago, froze on race day, lost the battle with my stomach at mile 6 (yes, i ate up 5 minutes taking a shit) and even fell on my knee rushing into the bathroom…but somehow kept moving and ended with a new PR.
Proud, humbled, and kinda shocked. 🏅
On to the next. 🏃‍♂️❄️

How do you utilize your time? 🫵 by @dr.junyrhee

Happy Lunar New Year! Did you know the Asian squat isn’t just cultural—it’s functional! 🧘‍♂️✨ This deep squat is key for everything from resting during long hours of work to using squat toilets for easier pooping 💩💨. Struggling to get low with keeping your heels down? It’s probably your ankle mobility holding you back, not just tight hips or knees. Unlock that range and improve your movement (and bathroom game)! 🦵🔥 #PhysicalTherapy #AnkleMobility #AsianSquat #GutHealth #physicaltherapy #FunctionalMovement #MobilityMatters #PTTips by @dr.junyrhee

Struggling to level up your pull-ups? Let’s talk scapular depression and lower trap activation! 🏋️‍♀️💪

Engaging your lower traps helps stabilize your shoulder blades, improving pulling mechanics and reducing strain on your shoulders. By mastering scapular depression (pulling your shoulder blades down and back), you’ll optimize force transfer, protect your joints, and move more efficiently. Translation? Stronger, smoother pull-ups! 🔑✨

Pro tip: Start with scapular pull-ups to build awareness and strength. Your lats and traps will thank you later! 💥 #PullUpGameStrong #PhysicalTherapyTips #LowerTrapActivation #physicaltherapy #scapula #lowertraps #pullups #shoulderblade by @dr.junyrhee

POV: Your personal PT experience, right at home 🏡✨ From my treatment table to Graston tools, cupping, e-stim, and even my elbow—I’ve got you covered for ultimate recovery and relaxation. 💆‍♂️💪 #InHomePT #RecoveryMadeEasy #ASMR #GrastonTechnique #CuppingTherapy #PhysicalTherapy #homecare by @dr.junyrhee

Egg Barber gets his back blown out by physical therapist @dr.junyrhee 💀

Today, Dr. Juny stopped by to drop some knowledge on how we barbers can prevent long-term injuries. Let’s be real—standing on our feet all day and constantly flicking our wrists can take a toll over time. Without proper stretching, it’s a recipe for pain down the line.

To all the young barbers out there: take care of your body! Don’t skip those wrist stretches and stay ahead of the game. Your future self will thank you!

Train your core like an athlete 🔥 Dynamic core exercises build strength, stability, and real-world performance by mimicking how your body moves in sports and life. Unlike isometric holds (like planks), dynamic movements challenge your core to stabilize during motion, improving balance, power, and agility. 🏋️‍♀️⚽🏀

Think rotational, pivoting, single leg, and multiplanar exercises. 🔥 These translate directly to athleticism because they teach your core to move and adapt under load—just like during game time

❗️Dumbbell marches (3x15 marches one direction)
❗️Weighted twists (3x20) (use an appropriate weight for your plate or kettlebell)
❗️Landmine rotations (3x20)
❗️Side star planks (3x8 per side with 10 second hold for last rep)
❗️Ab rollouts (3x20)
❗️L-sit raises (3x10 with 10 second hold for last rep) by @dr.junyrhee

When your PT really understands the importance of tactile cues 😂👏🏼 #FixThatForm

Disclaimer: The subject is a close friend of mine that I was treating and I’d NEVER do something like this in a professional PT setting. Professional boundaries are key in PT! 😅

On a serious note: Tactile cues are actually super helpful in physical therapy. They give patients real-time feedback to help activate the right muscles and improve movement patterns. Just maybe not like this! 😂 #PhysicalTherapy #PTLife #TactileCues #PatientCare” by @dr.junyrhee

Spent this season cooking up some spices in the kitchen. This was my first time joining a league and playing regulation basketball although I’ve been hooping my whole life…. And there was so much room for improvement. Definitely will be back next season 😈 @brodienewyork by @dr.junyrhee

🧘 Mobility vs Flexibility often get confused.

🧠 Flexibility is your passive range of motion in your joints and muscles, while mobility combines strength within your whole range of motion. Both are essential for a healthy, functional body.

🫵Check out these ideas to train both, and let us know in the comments how they worked for you!

PT stands for PAIN🤕 and TORTURE😭!!!

Here a short glimpse of what one manual therapy session with my hip replacement patient looks like. Not gonna lie, it’s a lot of manual labor being a physical therapist. But with knowing what a patient needs and possessing the skills necesarry, I would be doing patients a disservice by not applying necesarry interventions becuase “I’m tired.”🥱

Anyways, although PT sessions may be painful and grueling, effective communication of why we’re doing an intervention and what the patient can expect are paramount in building patient therapist trust. My patients that have been working with me for some time all know that the pain and discomfort they may experience in a PT session is what’s best for them in the long run. 🏃‍♂️
