My first voice teacher was a tenor named Thomas East.Thomas was the lead tenor at the Darmstadt Opera House in Germany for six seasons years ago.One evening, during a performance of Tosca or La Traviata, he sang an aria in German as the production was being sung in German… the applause was so long, that the audience demanded an encore of that aria. So Thomas repeated the aria.The next day in the Darmstadt newspaper, the headline read as follows: “Herr East gives us a rare treat, he sang the aria the first time in German, and his encore in Italian.”He inadvertently sang the encore in its original language, and didn’t realize it until the next day!! by @dr.mtw1960

I attended a concert with The Toledo Symphony Orchestra on Saturday evening. The soprano soloist was a fabulous artist named Angela Meade. Something very profound occurred at the end of the concert. She finished singing an excerpt from Tristan and Isolde… and after the orchestra finished the final chords… the audience fell into a hush that filled the auditorium with complete and utter silence. It was an ethereal moment that seemed to transcend time and place and space. An almost Holy moment. After what seemed an eternity of complete silence, the audience erupted into a standing ovation 👏. What a fabulous performance in a majestic theater. by @dr.mtw1960
