POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
It has taken me a couple of weeks to post this.

Receiving this honour in Jamaica from @uccjamaica was one of the most profound and humbling moments of my life. 🇯🇲

I almost cried 😭 because who am I that Yah my Father is mindful of? Who am I indeed?

To receive this recognition from my own people meant more to me than I can fully explain. To have my wife Kate @katonielnadinecoaching by my side, along with my mum, dad, family and cousins who came to witness the moment, made it even more special.

This acceptance speech came straight from my heart. It was passion and it was my truth, it was part of my journey.

One thing I want anyone watching this to understand:

Never allow somebody else’s opinion of you or your skin pigmentation to determine your outcome.

People may misunderstand you.
People may reject you.
People may underestimate you.
People may even try to define what they believe you can become.

But they do not determine your future.

Your critics do not determine your future, your employer does not determine your future, your family, acquaintances or even your probation officer or teacher does not determine your future. Above all your past does not determine your future.

KEEP GOING.

Keep pushing when nobody understands, keep building when nobody applauds, keep believing when others cannot see the vision.

Rejection is not the end of your story being overlooked is not the end of your story, failing is not the end of your story.

Sometimes you simply have to keep walking until your life becomes the evidence.

I receive this honour with deep gratitude, humility and a renewed determination to keep serving, keep inspiring and keep making a difference.

Thank you Jamaica. 🇯🇲❤️

Never let another person’s opinion become the ceiling over your life.

Im an amateur saxophonist, but wrote this song from a moment I’ll never forget.

Waking up next to my wife after we got married… looking at her while she slept, smiling to myself, thinking “I get to spend the rest of my life with this woman.”In that moment, I felt like the luckiest man alive.

That memory is something I still hold onto especially in the storms. As marriage isn’t always smooth sailing. It moves… it stretches… it rises and falls like waves. There are highs, there are lows, but there’s also something deeper that carries you through.

For me, that’s what this song is. Velvet after midnight. Soft, honest, emotional… a place where love is felt even in the quiet, even in the hard moments.

I wrote and recorded this in Jamaica, surrounded by credible musicians who helped bring this feeling to life my friend Backing Vocalist for @therealsizzlakalonji and produced by my friend Kryss Rass who has played for artist like @bereshammond @marciagriffiths_queenofreggae @kevindownswell @realioctane to name but a few. I’ve been playing saxophone for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever recorded something this personal.

This piece is an apology for the times I’ve fallen short. A statement that love doesn’t disappear when things get hard, and a reminder to myself especially, that love is not just spoken… it’s shown through action. It’s about listening… really listening. Understanding, not just responding. Creating space for someone else’s emotions without making it about yourself. Showing up differently. Consistently. This song is an expression of my heart, It’s a vybe that pulls you in gently, then takes you deeper, into the warmth, the excitement, the quiet intensity of real love.

It’s that late-night energy when the world slows down…
when it’s just two hearts, no noise, no distractions.
Where a look says everything. Where presence means more than words. When eye contact sees the love within the heart. Thank you Abba Father for my wife.

This is just the beginning. 2026, I plan to release more music maybe even an album one day.

But this one… this one is special. It’s a small attempt but I hope I will get better on the next one.

Straight off the plane from Jamaica 🇯🇲and into a suit, I had the honour of hosting the pre-launch of the @mbccawards_ Awards 2026 🇬🇧 (Greatful for traveling mercies).

What an outstanding evening.

Hosted at Deloitte, the event brought together an exceptional mix of business leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals and community champions from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. The room was filled with energy, ambition and a shared commitment to strengthening connections, creating opportunities and celebrating excellence. Was also great to see friends @shantaniabeckford @tamikamartinofficial @tamikamartinandfriends

It was a pleasure to see Dame Beverly Lindsay DBE ODL alongside the Mayor of the West Midlands, together with many influential figures from across the public, private and third sectors. The quality of conversation, collaboration and networking throughout the evening demonstrated the strength and diversity of our region’s business community.

Special recognition must go to @zoe_bennett_motivational_queen, whose dedication and vision continue to build upon a remarkable legacy. With more than 450 guests attending each year, the MBCC Awards has become a flagship event that recognises achievement, inspires future leaders and showcases the very best of Birmingham and the wider UK.

If the pre-launch event was any indication, the MBCC Awards 2026 in November promises to be a truly memorable occasion it will be hosted by @1judilove & my fellow brother #MOP @theojohnsonuk @bbc1xtra

If you haven’t secured your tickets yet, now is the time. Better still, reserve a table and join us for an evening of celebration, connection and opportunity while supporting two worthy charities.

See you in November. Let’s Go!

Today I woke in Jamaica to the heartbreaking news that my friend, veteran journalist and diaspora pioneer, Dervan Malcolm, has passed away. As I write this in the early hours of the morning it’s 05:30AM here, I am reflecting on the extraordinary legacy of a man who dedicated his life to promoting Jamaica and connecting Jamaicans across the globe. Long before many recognised the significance of the Jamaican Diaspora, Dervan was telling our stories, celebrating our achievements and helping Jamaicans at home understand the impact and contribution of those living and working abroad. Dervan was a true champion of the Diaspora. Through programmes such as The Jamaican Diaspora Live Online and Both Sides of the Story, he gave a voice to countless individuals, organisations and businesses, building bridges between Jamaica and its sons and daughters around the world. He travelled extensively, interviewed relentlessly and never stopped advocating for Jamaica and Jamaicans wherever they were found.

I was privileged to call Dervan my friend. Over many years he interviewed me on numerous occasions, supported my work, encouraged my efforts and always spoke passionately about Jamaica, the Diaspora and his beloved Calabar. He had a remarkable ability to find the good in people and to use his platform to uplift, inspire and unite. For more than 30 years, Dervan served the Jamaican people through journalism, community engagement and serious dedication. His impact cannot be measured simply by the programmes he hosted or the stories he covered, but by the relationships he built, the opportunities he created and the pride he instilled in Jamaicans across the world.

Today, Jamaica has lost a respected journalist. The Diaspora has lost one of its greatest advocates. I have lost a friend

My sincere condolences go to his family, friends, colleagues at Power 106 @power106_876 and everyone whose life he touched.

Thank you, Dervan, for your friendship, your service and your commitment to our people.

May your soul rest in peace, and may your legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

🕊️ Gone, but never forgotten.

British High Commissioner to Jamaica, Alicia Herbert recently welcomed Dame Beverly Lindsay, Dr Nathaniel Peat and Mrs Katoniel Peat for a courtesy call.

The High Commissioner congratulated Dame Beverly on her recent Damehood from His Majesty King Charles III, and Dame Beverly and Dr Peat on receiving honorary doctorates from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean

Their conversation also touched on philanthropy, public service, entrepreneurship, education and opportunities to further strengthen UK–Jamaica connections.

Always great to connect with members of the Jamaican diaspora who continue to make an impact while strengthening the ties between the UK and Jamaica. 🇬🇧🤝🇯🇲

Being back home in Jamaica with my son has reminded me of something I believe every father needs to hear. Your children need your presence. The dont just need your money or just birthday presents, school fees or a message every now and again. They need you Dads, they need your time, your voice of direction, your guidance, your encouragement and your attention. Fathers, even if the relationship between you and their mother has ended, your relationship with your children has not (so please if you are absent fix up!)
A breakup between two adults should never become a breakup between a father and his children.

Life can become complicated relationships can fail, there can be hurt, irritations, disagreements and disappointment but our children should never have to carry the weight of adult situations.

Keep showing up.

Take the trip, go for the walk, have the meal, sit beside them. Put the phone down. Ask them how they really are. Listen when they speak. Laugh with them, teach them something. Tell them you love them. Create memories while you still have the opportunity.

Being here in Jamaica with my son isn’t about showing a perfect life. It’s about being present in his life.

I want him to remember that his father spent time with him.

One day you are holding their hand crossing the road. Then suddenly you are standing beside a young man or woman preparing to make their own way in the world.

Fathers, don’t wait until tomorrow to build the relationship you could be building today.

Whatever happened between the adults, love your children through it.

Be consistent.
Be available.
Be involved.
Be present.

You don’t have to be a perfect father, but never stop working to be a present one.

I’m grateful for this time with my son, grateful to be back home, and grateful that we can make these memories together.

Jamaica, land we love. 🇯🇲

And to every father reading this… your presence in your child’s life may become one of the greatest gifts you ever give them ❤️🔥🙏🏾🙏🏾🇯🇲 Proverbs 22:6 standing in ABBA’s creation. taken in Jamaica by @dr.natpeat

We continue to work on the frontline with young people facing serious risks within their communities.

The summer holidays can be a particularly dangerous period, with heightened concerns around violence, criminal exploitation and the grooming of vulnerable children. Although there have been significant reductions in knife crime in some areas, the fear experienced by many young people remains very real.

At The Safety Box, our work goes beyond helping young people move away from danger. We create meaningful experiences that expose them to new environments, broaden their horizons and help them believe in a future beyond the limitations of their postcode.

One young person we support dreams of owning his own business one day. We therefore took him to the historic Institute of Directors, @instituteofdirectors where generations of entrepreneurs, business leaders and changemakers have gathered. He had never entered a building or professional environment like this before.

For some, this may appear to be a simple visit. For a young person surrounded by risk and exploitation, however, it can be a transformational experience. It allows him to see, perhaps for the first time, that these spaces are not beyond his reach and that he, too, can become a successful entrepreneur and business leader.

Taking young people out of familiar environments and introducing them to places of aspiration, opportunity and achievement is an important part of our intervention work. Every positive experience helps replace fear with hope, limitation with ambition and negativity with a genuine sense of possibility.

When we expose young people to a different world, we help them understand that a different future is possible.

This is what The Safety Box does, protecting young people, expanding their horizons and helping them move from risk to resilience, from exploitation to empowerment, and from surviving their circumstances to building their future. I spoke with Dr. Nathaniel Peat… Co-founder of the British Jamaican Chamber of Commerce @britjacc and @jamin_uk at the Small Business Association of Jamaica event at the @jamaicapegasus hotel. And what he said stopped me in my tracks. 🇯🇲

“You have to believe.”
Simple. Powerful. True.

We talked about investing in Jamaica, what the diaspora needs to know, where the real opportunities are and why now is the time to be paying attention to this island.

If you are a British Jamaican sitting in the UK wondering whether Jamaica is worth investing in - this video is for you full conversation on my YouTube channel COMING SOON (link in bio)🌿

Huge congratulations to Ambassador Ariel Bowen on her appointment as Jamaica’s seventh Ambassador to Japan. 🇯🇲🇯🇵 @kaminajsmith excellent choice 🙏🏾🇯🇲

I have had the privilege of knowing Mrs Bowen, and I know her to be a genuinely hardworking, committed and gracious professional. After almost three decades of distinguished service within diplomacy at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade @mfaftja, this appointment is a fitting recognition of her dedication to Jamaica and to international diplomacy.

During her service at the United Nations @unitednations, Ambassador Bowen played an important role in coordinating the 2007 Commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which contributed to the establishment of the Permanent Memorial to the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Her appointment comes at an important time in the longstanding relationship between Jamaica and Japan, which dates back to 1964 and continues to grow across trade and investment, education, culture, maritime affairs, technical cooperation and development.

I am genuinely delighted to see her step into this significant role. Her years of service, professionalism and commitment have prepared her well for this moment.

Wishing her every success as she represents Jamaica in Tokyo and continue strengthening the relationship between the two nations.

Congratulations, Ambassador Bowen well deserved. 🇯🇲👏🏾🇯🇵
