Hello beautifulllll people. My month of April has been filled with rest and lots of joy. As I prepare to get back into the grind, I want to provide a quick note about the importance of rest and sleep.

Sleep is not a luxury—it’s a vital sign.
As your faaaveeee doc, I see firsthand how chronic fatigue quietly impacts nearly every aspect of health. Poor sleep isn’t just about feeling tired—it’s linked to high blood pressure, weight gain, weakened immunity, mood disorders, and decreased focus.
Quality rest is when your body repairs, resets, and restores. It’s when your brain processes information, your hormones rebalance, and your immune system strengthens.
Here are a few simple ways to prioritize better sleep:
• Aim for 7–9 hours each night
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule (even on weekends)
• Limit screen time before bed
• Create a calm, dark sleep environment
• Be mindful of caffeine and late-night meals
If you’re constantly waking up tired, snoring heavily, or struggling to fall or stay asleep—it may be time to talk to your doctor.🤍
Rest is not optional. It’s foundational. Your body depends on it.

Ramadan Mubarak to all. May this month bring clarity, peace, discipline. May Allah accept our fast and all our prayers. 🤍🌙

The month of Ramadan is always a beautiful reminder of discipline, reflection, gratitude, and community.

Fasting should be incredibly meaningful spiritually — and with the right preparation, it can also be done safely and healthfully. A few quick health reminders to guide and encourage you:

🩺 1. Suhoor.
Prioritize protein + fiber (eggs, Greek yogurt, oats, chia, nuts) to maintain stable glucose and reduce midday crashes.

💧 2. Hydrate strategically.
Aim for steady water intake between Iftar and Suhoor. I take 10-14oz of coconut water soaked with a teaspoon of chia seeds. Limit excess caffeine — it increases dehydration.

🍽 3. Break your fast gently.
Start with dates + water, then pause before larger portions. Avoid going from 0 to 100 — your GI system will thank you.

💊 4. Medication adjustments matter.
If you have diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, or take daily medications — speak to your PCP about dose timing adjustments. Ramadan planning should be proactive.

❤️ 5. Listen to your body.
Dizziness, confusion, persistent hypoglycemia, chest pain, or severe weakness are not things to “push through.” Your health is an amanah (trust).

🏃🏽‍♀️ 6. Keep moving — gently.
Light walks after Iftar are great. Avoid intense workouts while fasting unless your body is accustomed to it.

Ramadan is about spiritual elevation — not medical setbacks. Preparation and intention make all the difference. May this year bring endless barakat into your homes. Love you all ❤️ by @dr.njiemd
