Voutilainen 217-QRS Retrograde Date Manfredi 30th Anniversary in Stainless Steel. Followers of this page know I don’t often do close ups even though I appreciate fine finishings. Found these in my photo archive from 6 years ago when I first acquired this piece.

To say I’m not excited by the rapid appreciation in value is untruthful, but as its value increases, the time it spends on my wrist has greatly diminished…

My very first grand complication from Patek, the 5970J. Fewer yellow gold example were produced compared to other regular production metals, including the platinum. With the long-overdue appreciation of the 3970, today’s market pricing for the 5970 does feel rational.

Patek Philippe Split-seconds Chronograph 5370P sitting comfortably on my wrist. The black enamel dial makes the 41mm case appears smaller in size (7.25”/ 18.4cm wrist size).

Two beautiful Lange pieces that are unfortunately no longer part of the collection.

I’ve been actively working to reduce the size of my collection from 14 watches to a more manageable 8 pieces that I can regularly wear and enjoy.

The 1815 Chronograph shares an identical caseback view with the Datograph Perpetual, yet it saw far less wrist time in comparison. As much as I admired it, the overlap made the decision easier.

The Lumen was acquired as the result of an earlier consolidation. Despite its relatively thin case, the overall wearing experience never quite met my expectations, although it was significantly more comfortable than the Zeitwerk it replaced.

I’m now down to a single Lange: the very rare 410.030. It remains one of the cornerstones of the collection, having been worn 160 days out of 365 in 2024, and it continues to command a significant share of my wrist time today.
