HAPPY FRIDAY Family 😌✨

I’ve been getting this question a lot lately…

“How is residency going?”

My answer is simple:

Growing & Glowing. 🤍✨

I started residency working in the Emergency Department, and if I’m being honest, it’s been a rollercoaster mentally, emotionally, and physically.

There have been long days, challenging moments, and plenty of opportunities to grow. But through it all, I’ve learned that I don’t have to have it all figured out. I just have to take it one day at a time and trust that God will continue to use me, strengthen me, and lead me exactly where I’m supposed to be.

This season is stretching me, but it’s also shaping me into the physician and the woman I’m praying to become.

So if you’ve been wondering how residency is going…

I’m growing.
I’m glowing.
And I’m trusting God every step of the way. 💜🙏🏽

When people hear the word Arthritis, they often picture an older adult. But kids get arthritis, too. Long before I became a pediatric resident physician, I was the little girl in these photos. I was the youngest in the waiting room, the one getting infusions and injections, and the one spending flare days in bed wondering when I’d feel like a kid again.

Living with an autoimmune disease completely changed my childhood, but it also shaped my lifelong purpose. This month, I’m so honored to partner with the Arthritis Foundation for JA Awareness Month to help break the stigma and share what living with juvenile arthritis really looks like.

This year, the Foundation is highlighting the unexpected challenges of this journey with a JA Bingo Card, bringing to light the experiences that definitely “were not on our bingo cards” growing up. Looking at the card, so many squares hit home for me from navigating school accommodations and painful flares to missing out on birthdays and fun with friends because my body simply couldn’t keep up.

Today, I get to care for children as a pediatric resident while continuing my own journey as a patient. Every child living with JA deserves to be seen, believed, and reminded that their diagnosis does not define their future.

If you’re a parent, caregiver, healthcare professional, or someone living with juvenile arthritis, I hope you’ll check out the JA Bingo Card and help us spread awareness by sharing your own story.

You never know whose life your journey could change.

To every child fighting a battle that others can’t see: I see you, I believe in you, and your future is still incredibly bright. 💚💜

My heating pad is one thing you’ll almost always catch me bringing to my infusion 💉

It’s one of those little things that helps make the long days a little easier.

To my fellow spoonies and autoimmune warriors: I know this journey isn’t easy, but you are stronger than you think. Give yourself grace on the hard days, celebrate the good ones, and never feel guilty for choosing rest. Healing takes time, and you’re doing the best you can.

Keep fighting, keep believing, and remember you are never alone in this journey. Sending love to everyone getting through today one step at a time 💜

Lordddd 😮‍💨 my first ED shift was a HUGEEE adjustment! I am sooo sooo tired. Y’all think I came out looking like this after my shift today?
Absolutely not. 😂

Day 2 of residency is officially in the books, and your girl is learning quickly that the Emergency Department does not play!

Y’all probably won’t see me much until August/September because I’ve gotta lock back in & get adjusted 🩺

Bear with me while I adjust to this new season. I’ll pop in when I can, but right now my patients and learning come first 💯

Day 1 of Pediatric Residency: COMPLETE. 🩺

Today was such a full-circle moment. I had the privilege of returning to the same clinic where I completed my 4th-year Sub-Internship, but this time as a Pediatric Resident. God has been so faithful.

Tomorrow, I start my Emergency Department rotation for the rest of July. I’m excited, grateful, and ready to learn. Prayers are definitely appreciated! 🙏🏾

No weapon formed shall prosper 🙌🏾

Every delay, every setback, every tear, every flare, every exam, every “not yet”… God kept me.

Today I walk into my first day of Pediatric Residency covered by His grace. Before I care for a single patient, my prayer is simple:

Lord, go before me. Let every child and family I encounter experience Your love through my hands. Keep me humble. Keep me teachable. Keep me.

To everyone who has prayed for me, thank you. Please keep the prayers coming as I begin this new chapter. 💜👩🏾‍⚕️

Every “not yet” made this “right now” worth it. 🤍

Today, I officially begin my journey as a Pediatric Resident. There were moments I questioned the timing, seasons where I had to wait, and obstacles I never expected to face. Looking back, every delay was preparation, and every setback pointed me toward this moment.

This past Sunday it was such an honor to be the guest speaker for the Celebration of Praise commencement ceremony at my home church.

I’m walking into this new chapter with gratitude, humility, and faith, trusting the same God who brought me here will carry me through every patient, every lesson, and every challenge ahead.

To God be all the glory. 💜🩺 Great luck to my fellow co-residents who are starting this journey with me. So excited to see how far we grow over these next 3 years 🫶🏾🙏🏾

Tomorrow, I officially begin my Pediatric Residency 🩺

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and so excited for this new chapter. Every prayer, setback, lupus flare, and long night led me here.

As I begin residency, I’ll be setting healthy boundaries, protecting my peace, and giving myself grace as I learn and grow. If I’m a little quieter or slower to respond, know I’m pouring into becoming the best physician I can be 👶🏾💓

Please keep me in your prayers as I start Day 1 tomorrow. Praying for wisdom, strength, compassion, and God’s guidance every step of the way 🙏🏾
