You can be successful, productive, high-functioning, and still be burned out.

As a psychiatrist, here are 6 things I recommend for high-achieving women struggling with burnout:

1. Stop treating rest like it’s a reward you have to earn.
2. Build a life that contains things you enjoy, not just things you’re responsible for.
3. Spend time with people who leave you feeling energized, not drained.
4. Give yourself permission to say no.
5. Get your labs checked (including hormones, Iron, Thyroid function, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12).
6. Examine whether your life aligns with your values. Burnout can happen when your daily life is no longer aligned with what matters to you most.

Burnout recovery isn’t just about reducing stress. It’s about restoring the joy, energy, and capacity you need to fully participate in your own life✨

•Prioritizing yourself, your health (mental, physical, spiritual, emotional), and your happiness.
•Believing in yourself, your worth, & your value.
•Setting healthy boundaries for yourself & others.
•Doing more of that which fills your cup and brings you joy and peace.
•Thinking about and speaking to yourself in a positive, kind, and loving way.
•Working towards acceptance of yourself and any perceived imperfections.
•Giving yourself the same grace that you give to others.
•Keeping promises that you make to yourself.

Learning to love yourself is a process which can be extremely challenging depending on your upbringing and the things that have happened to you along your journey. Committing to the process is worth it.
