इस फोटो में एक सियार (Golden Jackal) शांत लेकिन सतर्क मुद्रा में खड़ा है। लोग अक्सर सियार को एक चालाक जीव समझते हैं, लेकिन जंगल की दुनिया में उसकी अपनी एक अहम भूमिका है। वह प्रकृति का सफाईकर्मी भी है और संतुलन बनाए रखने वाला एक महत्वपूर्ण सदस्य भी।
उसकी नज़रें मानो कह रही थीं— "मैं इस जंगल का राजा नहीं हूँ, लेकिन इस जंगल की हर आहट मेरी ज़िम्मेदारी है।"
कैमरे के सामने वह कुछ पल के लिए ठहरा फिर अगले ही पल वह जंगल की खामोशी में खो गया, पीछे छोड़ गया सिर्फ अपने पदचिह्न और यह एहसास कि जंगल का हर जीव प्रकृति की अनमोल कड़ी है।

मेरी जिंदगी का वह दिन जिसे मैं कभी नहीं भूल सकता— मैंने पहली बार अपनी आंखों से 'चीता' देखा। इससे पहले मैंने उन्हें सिर्फ टीवी चैनलों पर या किताबों की तस्वीरों में देखा था, लेकिन सामने से उन्हें देखना बिल्कुल अलग अनुभव था।
वह जादुई पल जैसे ही मेरी नजर उस पर पड़ी, मेरी धड़कनें थम सी गईं। वह दूर पेड़ के नीचे शांति से बैठा था, लेकिन उसकी मौजूदगी ही पूरे वातावरण में एक अलग ऊर्जा भर रही थी। उसकी सुनहरी खाल पर बने काले धब्बे सूरज की रोशनी में किसी कलाकृति की तरह चमक रहे थे। उसकी सतर्क आँखें मानो आसपास की हर हलचल को बहुत बारीकी से भांप रही थीं। सच कहूँ तो, उस समय मेरे मन में डर से ज्यादा एक गहरा सम्मान था। उसे इतने करीब से देखना मुझे यह अहसास करा रहा था कि इंसान चाहे कितनी भी तरक्की कर ले, प्रकृति की इन अद्भुत रचनाओं के सामने हम कितने छोटे हैं। न कोई शोर था, न कोई हलचल, बस मैं और वह शानदार जीव। by @dr_ontheflyharshit

धूप की एक नरम लकीर ठीक उसके ऊपर पड़ रही थी, नीचे हरी घास का गद्दा था। तभी उसे कुछ हलचल दिखी। एक फोटोग्राफर कैमरा ताने दबे पाँव आ रहा था। बाकी कोई जानवर होता तो भाग जाता पर सियार ने आलस से एक पैर आगे फैलाया, सिर सामने किया और जीभ निकाल कर हल्का सा मुस्कुरा दिया। मानो कह रहा हो, "ले भाई, फोटो ले ले। लेकिन याद रखना, जंगल का असली राजा शेर नहीं, मैं हूँ। शेर तो ताकत से राज करता है, मैं दिमाग से।" कैमरे का शटर क्लिक हुआ। सियार जानता था कि आज रात जब ये तस्वीर जंगल के वॉट्सऐप स्टेटस पर जाएगी, तो सब जलेंगे। खासकर वो घमंडी तेंदुआ, जो हमेशा पत्थर पर बैठकर एटीट्यूड मारता है।
फोटो हो गई। सियार उठा, अंगड़ाई ली, और पूंछ हिलाता हुआ झाड़ियों में गायब हो गया। उसे पता था, अगले शिकार की प्लानिंग करनी है।
