NEW SPOT: this mother and daughter opened up a Mexican restaurant and snack shop called @taquieralamonarcaboone over one month ago! Miriam Hernandez named the restaurant after the Mexican grocery store La Monarca Tienda her mother owns in Boone. TRADITIONAL MEXICAN DESSERTS 🍰 🥭 MANGONADAS with bright orange chunks of mango, swirled with red chili powder, salt and citrus sugar! 🍓FRESAS CON CREMA with fresh strawberries, sweetened condensed milk, and whip cream. 🍈 NANCHES think of these like yellow or orange cherries with a distinctive taste combination of bananas + lychee 🥥 BIONICOS: small cubed fruit, drenched with crema and topped with granola, shredded coconut, raisins and honey 🌽 ESQUITES: toasted corn, chili powder, lime juice, salt, mayonnaise, cotija cheese. 🎭 PAPERHAND PUPPET INTERVENTION: since 2000 these larger then life puppet wizards have kept us in awe. @paperhandpuppet Each performance uses papier-mâché, cardboard, and bamboo to create incredible giant puppets, masks, and shadow plays. The Paperhand Puppet Intervention performs each year at a 100 year old hillside amphitheater called the Forest Theatre located at 123 S Boundary St. This years 22nd annual big puppet show is called THE MEANWHILE CLOCK 🕰 and other Impossible dances. The shows are held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the months of August and September. All the shows start at 7 PM and cost $20 for adults and $10 for children. by @draba
